Mount Dynasty ends
Mount Dynasty ends
I know it's not Minnesota Hockey, but I thought some you might find this interesting. Mount Saint Charles's 26 year Rhode Island State championship finally came to an end this year after they got swept in a best of three series against Toll Gate high school (a public school no less). It's significant because the 26 year streak is the longest championship run ever in any high school sport.

Mount Saint Charles does have a small connection with Minnesota, in that the Mounties played AHA two years ago when the Stars came out east. Last year the Mounties traveled to Minnesota to play Shattuck and AHA.

With Mount Saint Charles winning 26 years in a row and with Catholic Memorial beating BC High in the Mass championship for the fourth year in a row, I have to admit that the having the Mount lose this year is a bit of fresh air. I can only hope that here in Mass (and RI) that some of these dynasty teams will be replaced by a truly competitive field of teams that can vie for the championship each year, like you have in Minnesota. That would give HS hockey a big shot in the are around here (in the east). Unfortunately, I think it's only wishful thinking ....

Mount Article

Mount Dynasty ends
Amazing run. Does that mean other teams have improved significantly or was this a really down year for them?

Does anybody else think it's a good idea to have the state championship a best of 3 series. Not as if it's not already exciting, but this could add a bit more to the final. This would also solve the question of "Did the best team win?"
