Cory Johnson?
Cory Johnson?
I've only watch Moorhead play a handful of games this year, but was impressed by #12's play. Cory Johnson is one heck of a player but seems to play in Lee, Fisher, Becker and Vandevelde's shadow. During the Championship game, Johnson looked like the best player on the ice, but doesn't get recognized and was Lee even there? What is Cory Johnson doing after school? It would be a shame if he doesn't get to play D1 college. Those smaller players never seem to get any recognition.

Re: Cory Johnson?
I thought Cory played as well as Vandy, and those two carried the team. Cory and Travis have some work to do before anyone will risk even a partial ride. They'll prove once again in juniors what we all know. It's not the size of dog in the fight....

Re: Cory Johnson?
i think cory goes to fast down the ice that he loses the puck a lot but damn he can fly and yeah he was, outside of vandy, the best foward out there. dunno about his after high school plans are. probably focus on hockey instead of football(size again) but he was a hell of a tailback to.

I think that's the first time I heard of a guy going
Quote:
to fast down the ice

.

Re: Cory Johnson?
i totally agree w/ that "going too fast down the ice"....its not always easy to keep control of the puck when you're skating 30 mph

Re: Cory Johnson?

what...hes really fast. i dont blame him for losing control of the puck.

Re: Cory Johnson?
Cory is a pleasure to watch game in and game out. I've heard his options for hockey after high school are farily limited, which is too bad. He is also good at football and track. I've heard he is looking division 2 for football and maybe track and also staying home to play all three in division 3. I really don't know for sure, but i wish a great kid the best of luck in his future. The way this kid competes in everything he does, he will be successful in whatever he does the remainder of his life. That's what sports do. Teach you how to compete and face adversity.

Re: Cory Johnson?
Cory was hands down the best player on the ice for Moorhead. He was the most consistant and if they hadn;t voted for All Tournament Team before the end of the game he would have had it over Becker. Althought both players played well in the tournament. I agree that Cory got screwed out of the All Tournament Team two years in a row. He is an excellent player and i'm sure that if he wasn;t such a standout in track and football he would be playing D1 hockey sometime in his life. Look to see Johnson go to a D3 school were he can standout in Football, Track, and Hockey.

Re: Cory Johnson?
I hope the people telling him he's too small doesn't get to him, I've played with Kraft and Blake and he is faster than both of them when they were high schoolers. I know speed alone won't do it but I believe this kid could play D-I with out a doubt.

Cory Johnson
I know he is one heck of a track stud too. Runs 100, 200, 400 and i'm sure more. He is just a great all around athlete and competitor. I agree he was not only the best Moorhead player on the ice that night but he also wanted it more than anyone else too. That in itself can take you a long way.

Cory's Career
According to Vande Velde and the spuds Cory is going to play at St. Cloud State. He should continue his career very well there. Oh ya it's football though that he will be playing, not hockey

Re: Cory's Career
I heard that track will be Cory's primary sport at St. Cloud. ??

Oh...
Well that could definitely be. I was told he was playing football, but he could have been mistaken. Either way he is going to SCSU for football or track or both. But it looks like he will be hanging up the skates

Jason Blake was another MHD. kid who had to prove himself because his lack of size. Speed Kills. When will the hockey Gods figure that out.

isnt the concordia program callin it quits?

Re: Cory Johnson?
I would like to see him attend St. Johns. Nate Mienz from Tech is going to school there and was starting Varsity right away. Like some of the others have said, It would be a shame if he doesn't play hockey anymore with speed and drive like that. There is no reason why he couldn't play D1. Look at Chris Connor, Conrad Reeder, and may other smaller players in the WCHA. Heck, look at Martin St. Louis, I've heard he's really around 5'4", not the 5'9" or 10" he's listed at. I think Cory could walk on at SCSU.

Re: Cory Johnson?
Anybody ever hear of Marty Sertich - not too bad of a player for his size?!!! I wish Cory Johnson the best of luck and hope we will be able to continue to watch him play hockey at the next level - he was a real treat to watch during this past season!
