Jr A state tournament....

Post by Statechamps09 »

Just a few complaints about this years state tournament planning...
-Instead of having a banquet dinner like there has been in the past, they are having a breakfast at 930 AM i believe on the friday the tournament starts...Not only does breakfast not compare to a dinner banquet, but the first game on Friday is at 12 noon, so the players can go to the banquet thing, chow, and then go strait to their game. good thinking.

-The winners in the quarterfinals on the top bracket play at 10 AM on saturday......Is there something more important going on at EDISON arena so that the winners of a state tournament game have to settle for crap ice time? The 2 losing teams on the top bracket play at noon saturday, which is a little better (acceptable for a loser bracket) but isn't the winners bracket always later at better ice times?

-Its at Edison

Now that I'm done ranting, lets hear some predictions for the tournament..

Jr. A tourney

Post by troll21 »

Edison is a terrible arena to hold a state tournament.

The breakfast issue is a bad idea. I think the players have enough to do with out having to sit on a banquet. What are Wayzata, Edina, and EP suppose to do until there game starts? Poor planning.

Wayzata repeats as champs.

I really don't know what the people incharge of this tournament are thinking. Having a breakfast banquet is a terrible idea. And for the semi-finals they need to switch the times with the consoslation side. It will suck when EP vs. Wayzata (most likely matchup but you never know) will play at 10:00 a.m. saturday morning. Should be a pretty crazy weekend.

First off, WAYZATA repeats.

Now that the important response is posted, lets move on to my bickering. A Breakfast a mere 2 1/2 hours before Wayzata is set to play Blaine... Edison....what a joke

Post by mnhockeypro »

What a joke hosting the STATE TOURNEY at Edison. The least the TC district could do is to find the best rink in their district. If it has to be in the TC district, why dont they host the tourney at Parade or something?

oh yea, the times are BS too...

I heard they were havin the b-fast because last year a dinner was held the Monday followin the tourney, and kids were upset they lost and stuff and the "excitement" wasn't happenin. Don't know, wasn't there, but thats what someone in JG-A told me...It's still border-line ridiculous in my opinion...

I dont know where you got that information because last years banquet was held the night before the tournement started, like it should be. Although i more bitter about the semis being the early games. I don't think EP and Wayzata should be rewarded for their win by having to wake up at 8 or even earlier the next morning and haveing to drive to north Minneapolis. If those are even the teams.

state tourny

The whole tournament setup is just horrible as everyone has previously said.

Honestly what sort of reasons could they have for putting a winners bracket game time earlier then a losing brackets. Probably drunk while setting it up.

Edison- wow, sweet arena TC. Parade would have been an awesome arena for this tournament.

The games should provide a lot of enertainment regardless.

tourney sucks cont.

Post by Statechamps09 »

They ran out of food at the breakfast yesterday...

Many people also waited in the parking lot before the first game, some for over a half hour. How hard is it to get someone to show up at an arena and unlock it for a state tournament.

the parking situation is horrible......

It sucked getting up for the 10AM wayzata/EP game- it was a great game though. Wayzata 5- EP 3

Nice Goal

Wayzata was lucky that game didnt go into OT, even though edinas goalie let in the worst goal of the year, it shouldnt have happened.

Post by Statechamps09 »

shouldn't of happened, whatever. Your goalie is part of the team too. So he let in a weak one, who cares. All that matters is that wayzata shushed its critics once again with a REPEAT. CAN I GET A HELL YEA

Pure Domination?

Post by mnhockey009 »

Tph28, I don't know i you consider it pure domination. First game in state vs. Blaine, 2-0 on two crappy goals, very uncrisp game Wayzata. Against EP they were getting out played for the first two periods with the score being tied 3-3 and then came out flying and outshooting EP 13-2 in the third to take the win in a really good game. In the championship they played decent, got one terrible goal and one decent one on the same penalty kill and managed to hold their lead through the final five minutes with a huge fluery at the end by Edina. The pure domination for Wayzata was their goaltending which was brilliant in all the games and held them through the second period vs. EP and the last minute against Edina. This state tournement proved to me that it's all about goaltending and thats where Edina, White Bear and EP all came up short.

they won state didnt they? They won league Didnt they? They got 1st seed out of Regions Didnt they?

Bottom line

_____
Blaine had no chance. They didnt put up any sort of scoring oppurtunities. Poorly reffed game, didnt call anything in 1st period, called everything in 2nd.
Eden Prairie capitalzied on the few breakdowns that wayzata had in the 1st two periods, thats why it was tied. Other than that they didnt have much going.
Edina's goalie let in a soft goal. Deal with it, your goalie is part of your team and should be able to over come situations like that.

Dont be so bitter.

I agree to an extent with what you are saying, yes goalies tend to sieve it happens but its the same as any player that has a bad shift. The only difference is that it is more noticeable. Give the Edina goalie credit, he got to the championship and still gave his team a chance to win the game. One goal doesnt win or lose that game, if you (edina) would have helped him out on your end, scoring, yoiu wouldnt have been put in that situation.

state champs.....again

Post by Statechamps09 »

mnhockey09....stop trying to justify your broken promise, Blaine played with a lot of heart and although wayzata didn't play the best game, blaine didn't make it easy. Look at EP, they went into OT with DULUTH....Wayzatas goalies did play well but in no way were they the only reason for success. Get over it buddy, EP and Edina went down to the champs two years in a row <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> How can you even doubt Wayzata after beating both EP and Edina 2 years in a row<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

Wayzata Repeats

Post by sophmorestud13 »

Won Duluth Tournament, Won League, Won Regions, Won State. Wayzata was a team full of <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> pimps<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> The only reason Blaine stayed in the game is because they play a cheap, rip-off brand of hockey. The EP game was a good one, and the better team prevailed. The Edina Game was another good one, and Its the edina goalies fault that he cannot stop a puck being dumped in the zone. I'm sure everyone at the game didn't know how it went it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o"> i guess some sleepers <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /tired.gif ALT="|I"> get in even at the higher levels.
