JGB Playoff Predictions

Post by hockeydad1956 »

Hey Everyone, I have been watching JGB all year, my son played B and A over the past years. We know kids on several teams and enjoy watching. Just my guess on the final standings of JGB, the teams that will advance to Regions.

68 pts - Roseville
67 pts - Eden Prairie
61 pts - Edina
61 pts - WBL Orange
60 pts - Osseo Black
59 pts - Tartan
59 pts - Chaska (would have never guessed)
58 pts - Wayzata Blue
57 pts - Minnetonka
56 pts - Osseo Orange
52 pts - RAVE (under achieved)
51 pts - WBL Black

Hard to believe that Elk River fell right out of Regions, MV Green showed great improvement. Roseville sandbagged and EP is still a power house.

Good luck to everyone.

correction 48 pts for WBL Black ......... hockeydad

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... dad1956 at: 2/14/05 4:11 pm

Predictions

Post by hockeydad1956 »

This is just the predictions for the end of the Metro League standings. I am guessing this is the way that league will end and these teams will advance to the first round of the Maroon Section Region playoffs. Five of these teams will advance to the JGB State tournament along with two teams from District 8 and one team from the Gold Region.

If you go to: <a href="http://www.metrohockeyleague.com/index. ... and look under the Junior Gold B postseason schedule you can see the playoff brackets.

Northboy26, your team may still have a shot at the playoffs, depending on how you finished in District 8 or the Gold Region. Ask your coach.

If you go to the link below you will be able to see the teams invovled in District 8. I am not sure when this was last updated:

<a href="http://league.stickstats.com/standings/ ...

I do not have information about the teams in the Gold Region. If you think your team is in this region you need to talk to your Coach about the standings. I believe only the top team from that region will advance to the playoffs.

Good luck

Just for grins - JGB Playoff picture w/o HEP points (shhh - dont let HEP police see this !)

1 Roseville 44
2 Eden Prairie 42
3 WBL - Orange 39
4 Osseo - Black 39
5 Tartan 37
6 Minnetonka 37
7 Edina 35
8 RAVE 34
9 Chaska 33
10 Osseo - Orange 31
11 Elk River 30
12 Wayzata - Blue 30

Appears that WBL-Black benefits from the HEP points and ER got jobbed. Other than that the non-HEP playoff picture includes 11 of the 12 playoff bound teams. Some minor order differences, but not as bad as I imagined.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... nd>Gamblin D at: 2/15/05 9:42 pm

when we played bimidji early in the year we only had like 3 of our best 7 players there .... some could not make it .. we didnt have bates yet ... adn there was a huge fight in Siren and we didnt have a bunch of players .... thats why we only won by 2 i think

JGB Playoff Predictions

Post by hockeydad1956 »

OK, here is what we know as of 10:30am.

1. Roseville, all 25 games in, 68 pts with HEP, 48 w/o

2. EP, all 25 games in, 67 pts with HEP, 44 w/o

3. OMG Black, all 25 games in, 63 pts with HEP, 41 w/o

4. WBL Orange, 23 games in, currently at 57 pts could go as high as 63 pts (games not reported as of yet Buffalo and Wayzata Blue) if they don't lose any HEP, and could go as high as 43 w/o the good guy points.

5. Edina, all 25 games in, 62 pts with HEP, 37 w/o, since the Metro site is not updated I am guessing they did get the HEP for the final game against OMB Black, they had collected all 24 HEP in their previous 24 games.

6. Wayzata Blue, 23 games in, (game not reported yet was against WBL Orange and they have one left against Wayzata White tonight) so far they have 54 pts with HEP, they could go as high as 60, but did they beat WBL Orange? Maybe not. But 57 or 58 pts might keep them in the 6 spot, but they will need help from MW White tonight. They could go as high as 32 points w/o the HEP.

7. Tartan, 24 games in so far, are currently at 56 with HEP (they play MV White tonight), they should come out of the night with 59 pts if they can collect the HEP. With a speculative win they could be at 39 pts w/o the HEP.

8. Minnetonka, 25 game in, 56 pts with HEP, 39 w/o

9. Chaska, 25 games completed, however the Metro site again does not have thier last game....soooooo... if they got the HEP last night they will have 56 pts with HEP, total pts for the season with out the nice player points is 33

10. Osseo Orange (or White according to their web site) 24 game reported, they have 52 points with HEP according to the Metro web site, however they were scheduled to play Buffalo on the 13th and the score is not posted. They could have as many as 55 pts with HEP and a possible 31 pts w/o depending on the outcome of the Buffalo game.

11. RAVE, all 25 games in, 51 pts with HEP, 34 w/o

12. WBL Black, all 25 game in, 48 pts with HEP, 26 w/o

So with HEP....... 6 and 7 might flip flop depending on outcome of the remaining games. 8 and 9 could change also depending on tie breakers.

If it had not been for HEP..........
1 Roseville 48
2 EP 44
3 WBL Orange 41 or 43
4 OMG Black 41
5 Minnetonka 39
6 Tartan 37 or 39
7 Edina 37
8 Wayzata Blue 34 or 36
9 RAVE 34
10 Chaska 33
11 OMG Orange 29 or 31
12 WBL Black 26

Nice analysis HockeyDad, but I am predicting the following order after giving teams the "gimmes" (if there can be such a thing in hockey)

1 Roseville&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 68
2 Eden Prairie&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 67
3 WBL - Orange&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 63
4 Osseo - Black&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 62
5 Edina&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 61
6 Tartan&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 59
7 Wayzata - Blue&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 58
8 Minnetonka&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 56
9 Chaska&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 53 (1 game w/Buffalo)
10 Osseo - Orange&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 52 (1 game w/Buffalo)
11 RAVE&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 51
12 WBL - Black&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 48

Well down here in the big city we have these things called leagues, and in a league you are granted a point for not going over 8 penalties in a game. The Hep points are awarded for sportsmanship in league play. From what ive heard you guys wouldnt have any anyways.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... oachGuy at: 2/18/05 7:48 am

HEP = Hockey Education Program

HEP was designed as a 3 part program. 1 part being, teams earn an extra "point" that effect there league standings only. There is a threshold of 8 penalties or 16 minutes for Jr. Gold (other levels have some different numbers and minutes). But if a major is called on a team, coach tossed out, or spectator tossed, the team will lose the point. Is is a behavior thing MNHockey is worried about inthe game of hockey. Look under the MNHoceky website for a "political" definition and why it was implemented.

The HEP point does not effect outstate Jr. Gold teams as there is no league. Your threshold is 15 penalties.

JGB Metro League

Post by hockeydad1956 »

At the time I started writing this, WBL Orange vs Princeton outcome still has not been posted on the Metro League site. I am going to assume that WBL did win that game as reported on another thread and that they managed to get through the game with less than 8 penalties. If all this is the case they would have been granted 3 points for that game. This would place them in a tie with OMG Black for third place, WBL has more victories and a higher goal differential so I assume they will win the tie breaker.

This is the playoff picture for the JGB Metro League.

#1 Roseville vs #12 WBL Black
#6 Tartan vs #7 Wayzata Blue
#2 EP vs #11 RAVE
#5 Edina vs #8 Minnetonka
#3 WBL Orange vs #10 OMG Orange (The Orange Bowl)
#4 OMG Black vs #9 Chaska

First Round Predictions:
Wins for:
#1 Roseville (Roseville is 9-0-2 against the top 12 teams, WBL Black is 0-9-2, enough said)
#6 Tartan (Tartan gets tough come playoffs, Wayzata is 4-3-2 in February, not much better than average, you have to be better than average to take it to Tartan in the playoffs)
#2 EP (This is the battle of the Capital letters, RAVE has more letters, but EP has more skaters)
#8 Minnetonka (Edina has played 11 games in the past 18 days, Tonka can be physical, Tonka will wear the Hornets down, Edina has had a tough time with the top 12 teams 4-6-1, things will not get easier in the playoffs)
#3 WBL Orange (The Orange Bowl, will a field goal be enough to win this game???? Osseo has impressed me by putting two teams in the playoffs, but they don't have enough skaters on the Orange team to beat WBL)
#4 OMG Black (If this Chaska is like the other Chaska teams I have seen, they like to slow things down. They might not find that so easy to do against Osseo, Chaska's record vs the top 12 teams is 2-5-4, Osseo's is 7-2-2. Osseo will get it done.)

JGB Metro League

Post by Gamblin D »

Looks good but I would flip your #3 and #4 depending how the Head to Head Tiebreaker is defined this year. It says H to H with HEP points included. Rather ambiguous, I could argue it either way.

I believe Osseo wins the 1st tiebreaker Head-to-Head.

2004-12-23 WBL - Orange 1 (1) Osseo - Black 2 (0)

Either way they will deal with numbers 9 (Chaska) and 10 (OMG Orange) on Thursday night and then move on to play each other on Friday at 5:50pm In Shakopee. It kinda messes with my Orange Bowl idea, but the end result will be the same. They both win their first round games.
