Refs and HEP

Post by troll21 »

Why are refs', the only ones on the ice that are paid, excluded from any type of ramifications or consequences under this program?

Coaches, players, and Fans have a protocol to act on the ice and follow the rules or the extra point is lost. Ref's can act like jerks and there behavior is acceptable. Ref's can swear at kids, taunt kids into further penalties, and tell coaches to "shut up". They are in a position of authority and should act professional regardless of the situation on the ice. The are paid to act this way, like a professional, but I see, and feel the ref's can do anything they want to because parents, players, and coaches can not question their authority.

I have seen coaches ask what the call was to a ref, because the ref made no hand signal to the minor official in the box, and the coach was tossed for asking a question. There was nothing that happened prior to this call, 1st penalty of the game in the second period. I could go on and on about calls and the conduct of the officials.

But the issue is: why are ref's not included in this "behavior" program?

And yes, I have been a ref and left and will be back in the the fall.
