College Commitments '07-'08

Post by brookyone »

In case anyone comes by any info or updates they care to pass along. A little early, but maybe not so much with the trend towards early commitment decisions.

Word is, in somewhat typical and annoying (to me at least) fashion, a local D-I institution is dragging their feet so to speak where local upper level talent is concerned...BOO!!

Amalee Windmeier from Coon Rapids has committed about 3 weeks ago to Wisconsin. She plays defence most of the time , but can also play forward. Sees the ice very well.

Congrats to Windmeier. Great player & person. Excellent choice by Wisconsin. I expect she'll be a Ms. Hockey finalist.

I also assume top Ms. Goalie candidate Nixon is still committed to SCSU.

I believe you can only verbally commit at this time. The official signing is November 3rd.

I think many committed early last year, but we also had a trend develop early. What I think happened was we had one of the strongest groups ever in the 88 birth year (almost all were seniors last year) and when a couple started committing, the rest seemed to follow quite quickly. This was good for many as it didn't leave the next tier (top D3/borderline D1) players up in the air relative to their MN peers as long, but it may have hurt too as maybe more focus by D1 teams was turned to other areas outside MN quickly too...

Still, I don't think that many committed (officially or otherwise) until early Nov/the start of the season.

May of Mahtomedi a Gopher?

Post by ghshockeyfan »

I believe I saw Laura May of Mahtomedi sign with the Gophers recently?

Talk about a great kid and talented hockey player! WOW. It's been an honor to get to see her play in the Classic Sub. conf. these past few years, although it's not always pleasant when she's playing against your team!
