Title rematch

Post by HShockeywatcher »

It appears as though both St Thomas's and Duluth Marshall's first game of the season will be together and home for the Hilltoppers. Any predictions? (Both private schools here, so you can't just bash the private school)

It's coming up next week and no one has posted in a while, any thoughts?

The game will be very interesting. STA will probaly have more talent and potential and will be better at the end of the year. Their problem is they have few upperclassmen and they are bringing in a ton of new players. The Hilltoppers have a lot more expierence but will that be enough?

My Prediction: STA 3 Toppers 1 Crandall will have a very good game and the Toppers get down early in the first but makes a late run.

I am going to agree with that. It will probably be a battle of goalies being that the supporting casts of both teams are very good. I say Crandall plays another amazing game, but since it is in Duluth the Hilltoppers will hang in there.

Prediction:
STA - 3
DM - 2

About Grand Rapids: Are they just a lucky team that got a shot, or will the championship appearance get them some games in the future?

i.e. STA's schedule each year has gotten a little tougher, playing Breck, EP, now DM, after this year, who's next...

GR

Post by 7A22A »

GR took some time off before qualifying for state last year. However, if memory serves me right. They have always played a difficult schedule. Bloomington Jefferson/cities teams, tough section teams and rivalry games on the range. By the way, they too are playing DM this year. In my opinion, most quality programs would like to play GR.

I took out what I said about Rapids, was a dumb comment. And added a poll. Any thoughts?

Good to know I guess. But a month ago when it was started I had no way of knowing. So we'll see what happens. Is it STA's first game? The only schedule I found of their's has 22 games without the RW game and DM game. Maybe another being Lourdes?

GR plays a tough non-conference schedule, but are stuck in a weak conference...like many teams around the state are.

Yeah, they've always played tougher teams, but also been in a tough section. But with Patrick White who showed us last year he's the real deal, how could they do this year?

Is Marshall's goalie from last year back? How many seniors did they lose last year?

In another thread someone said Tim McManus won't be playing hockey this year. That will also be another big loss for STA.

jesse is a solid goalie who didn't get hardly any playing time last year so it should be interesting to see how he does, shouldn't be bad though.
and as for the rest of the team, there's still quite a bit of talent. should be an interesting game, exciting first home game for the toppers with this match up- the fans will help them and they'll be there for sure

My guess is DM 3-2 over STA in a very close game

Everyone's been talking about how STA played football yesterday so they'll be tired, but DM's whole team played hockey yesterday. So, I guess we'll see. Should be close. I'm guessing it'll be a game of goalies, as it usually is with teams with explosive offenses.
