Bloomington has decent hockey. Yea they tore it up in the early-mid 90's but that's over now. Prairie has bomb football, yes. And good hockey teams here and there. The rest of the list is pretty mediocre in all honesty.

Not to say their teams aren't good, but when you have many more students to pick from than any other school, and your side lines are twice as big as everyone else's, you can't help but be good at football. This being said, this is why they are good at everything, because by numbers (I think), they are easily the biggest conference. And because of that, they will probably always be the best. Hockey isn't so much affected by the numbers (had many threads about that) but they are in upper middle class communities which does affect hockey.

Yea, but hockey is a dirty, gritty, grimey sport. They don't serve caviar. That's why those rich teams can't hang if you ask me. That's why scrubby teams like Roseville, Elk River, Moorhead and the likes are so bomb year in and year out.

I think what they're saying is that richer families can afford to send their kids to hockey camps year in and year out, starting early on. And that hockey is an expensive sport to play.

And poor kids spend their time on the pond or at the local rink with their dirty clothes and with their friends. It's these groups of kids that stick together year in and year out until they're in high school that will really dominate the sport.

No, but the conference race may be a good one this year...IF GR doesn't run away with it... Anyone but Eveleth could win it.
