Who is in this besides Centennial and Grand Rapids/Greenway. Is it bracket or round robin? Any info would be awesome. Thanks

I see St. Cld Tech opens up against Wayzata on Wed the 27th...

Not sure on others besides the Centennial GRG...

Usually a solid tourney that B Jefferson was in years back I thought, but not anymore I don't believe...

Wayzata was always in the Schwan Cup, any idea why so many good teams are leaving the Girls Schwan cup?

I think some may just want to try something different. I know back-in-the-day some complained about being behind multiple hours with so many games that can go OT, but that may have been addressed with the one OT & SO setup now? Also, some didn't like the bracketing of the Schwan's and they used to have two tourneys that were both seen as "top" brackets but there was some drama re: that. I think that when the games were played at the U or the X that that brought some more interest too, but this has changed back to Schwans/SR in Blaine??? This all aside I know that the Schwan's people that run the show work very hard at making it a premier event with proper bracketing based on team strength, etc., etc.

st. cloud tech vs wayzata
mounds view vs moorhead
centennial vs chisago lakes

grand rapids/greenway vs wbl

also according to the schwans cup website they charge $600 for both a varsity team and a jv team to compete. thats a lot of money... i believe most others are a lot less....centennial i believe is free.

Perhaps leaving the Schwan is a good thing, I would rather see the proceeds from the tournament go to the host HS team than the usual tournament profiteers.

I think the Tech vs. Wayzata game will be a decent match up... Kaasa has been solid in net. In the past four games she has had three shut outs, went unscored upon for about 9 1/2 periods.

The tournament is bracketing as well... It doesn't look to be too bad of a tournament with Moorhead, Tech, Wayzata, Centennial and GRG in it.

Tournaments

Playing the in the same tournament over and over gets old and boring. It is nice for players and parents to mix it up a bit. The good thing is that there are enough top notch teams to make most of these tournaments worthwhile to attend.

I was at the Schwans today and it was impressive to see 8 rinks all going with girls hockey at the same time. Great to see!

Championship Bracket:

Wayzata 4-GRG 3

Moorhead 2-Centennial 1 OT

Hopefully both games are as good tomorrow!

Consolation Bracket:

Chisago Lakes 4-Moundsview 2

St. Cloud Tech defeats WBL don't know the score.

Tech 6 - WBL 3. Tech was down 3-0 with about 6-7 minutes left in the second and started off by banging two in by the end of the second. Scored four more unanswered goals in the third. Dold had five points, and Kaasa finished with 41 saves. Kaasa is having an outstanding year. Don't know what anybody else thinks, but she is someone to watch in my opinion. 88 shots and 82 saves in two games.

Wayzata 4-Moorhead 2
Moorhead gave up 3 goals in the first period. Looked like it might be a romp but they seemed to get their legs back and made it a game. Got it to 3-2 before Wayzata scored late in the 3rd period.
