unfortunately for Roseville, I think the season is far enough along that their soft underbelly has now been exposed. Goaltending is medicre at best and the powerplay is ineffective. There was one point in the game against Cretin that Roseville was on the power play for about nine minutes and while they would begin to move the puck pretty well, the play would come to an abrupt end eveytime the defenseman on top got the puck and then shoot indiscriminately with most shots being zero percentage shots (Schugel mostly, but also the big guy Kohler was guilty). Never did they move the puck back to the forwards even though many, many times that was the obvious move because there was no shot. All Cretin had to do was focus on obstructing/blocking these shots, clear the puck to the other end and force Roseville to spend most of the time have to regroup. Can't believe the coaches didn't see this. The same exact thing occurred time after time. Also what's up with the constant line changes? What kind of consistency do you achieve when these guys never seem to have the same linemates twice. Unless the coaches figure this stuff out I think White Bear may pull-off an upset and it will turn out to be a long disappointing season for the Raiders Oh well

Roseville's number one strength is endurance. I have watched a few games and by the third period, the opposition becomes dog tired trying to keep up with Roseville's fast pace. They will be beat by any team who can out skate them.
Roseville really only has one strong line and they need to work on passing. I think White Bear will take them by 2 goals.

I hate to use the word overrated... but who has roseville really played to this point... I know they beat Centennial early... but I dont think that matters much! I just think they are not as good as many have given credit for. This should be an interesting game! I think the bears are hungry.... I see them winning this one... But weirder things have happned!

Well Roseville played Holy Angels tough, which is more then any other team not named Wayzata can say. They (Roseville) haven't had that many hard games and have dropped a couple of the bigger ones (CDH and Moorhead). WBL has had an awful start to the season and is looking for any way to turn things around. They have two straight blow-outs against very mediocre teams. Roseville is a skilled scoring team where WBL is a physical defensive team. Those matchups have not gon WBL's way this year and won't here either...
Roseville wins over WBL 4-1

7-10 will be a pretty good record for WBL with the schedule they have had. People want to rip WBL all of the time but this is not a very talented team. They are not close in talent with some of the teams they played early. I know you WBL fans don't like to hear it but the truth is this team is winning right now because of that monster schedule and they have found a work ethic. The Hanson kid is working as a team player and sharing the puck. He is becoming the player we all knew he could be. This turn of events has made him and the team much more dangerous. Talent wise the bears should lose both of these games but I see them upsetting one of these teams and being a very respectful 8-9 coming out of the week.
Look out for this team come playoff time if the continue to improve and share the puck.

Nope, I mean 7-10-0.wbhockey2 wrote:wbmd dont you mean 9-8-0 after 2 upsets in one week
Besides, at the beginning of the season in another posting, I made a prediction that White Bear would finish the regular season at 14-11-0. With two more games against Cretin and Roseville remaining along with another match with Woodbury, it just could happen. Maybe even more than 11 regular season losses.

I have heard people say that this year's team lacks talent. Just curious, how can a program the size of White Bear's not produce more talent? I also noticed that they don't have a Bantam A team in the top 20. Is the pool drying up over there? Cent & Hill will be stronger next year than they are this year so the future doesn't look too good for the Bears as well. Don't get me wrong, WB is a solid team & has the potential of doing some positive things, but really shouldn't be in the position they are in. Just trying to understand what is happening in WB.

This is a good team. Maybe not as good as the team two years ago. They have several young players who are coming into their own in Fiala, Putney, Swanson and Villeneave. Hanson is one of the best forwards in the state. Taylor Johnson is one of the best junior d-men in the state. Caleb Wolfgram is solid and playing better after a slow start.Pioneerprideguy wrote:I have heard people say that this year's team lacks talent. They have 3 decent goaltenders in Senior Vichich, Junior Aaron Corey, and Sophomore Owen Colette who is playing (JV) again after a hip injury.
The Minnesota Youth Hockey Coaches poll has the White Bear Bantam A team ranked 9th right behind Edina and ahead of Moorhead.
