Thank you all of your comments on this topic. When my son played, Showcase called their league - AAA Development League which was very fitting back then. Then the Super Rink created the D1 AAA league. I agree that, for the most part, AAA Hockey = Summer Hockey. Could you imagine that poor kid, or sh...

Ya - it was that way when my son played to. MN 88's were next to impossible to get invited and the Blades were hard to crack too. I remember most of the other teams had invites and open tryouts.

AAA world - is there enough talent - are the teams diluted?

Ok - I have a questions for you all that are in to the AAA world (talking boys hockey). I have been out of the AAA world for a number of years. To my absolute amazement. Mid-2000's, there were the Blades, Spirit, Rockets, Metro Wings, Raptors, Northern Wings, Lake Superior Stars, and Lightning - oh,...

I agree! Interesting in that I know a player that wants to take the same position and is planning on playing High School next winter and play on his associations Junior Gold team. We'll how well that goes. Most of the JG practices and games are after HS stuff. Like the dad said - Bernie is laying th...

Edina tried this three seasons ago and no one in Edina liked it - it may have been because they didn't balance the teams (they had an A1 and A2). Last I heard is that they would never do that again. Lastly, they will have to get District 6 to approve it and they only way D6 may consider it is if the...

St. Cloud State Troubles

No doubt that SCSU season has not lived up to the expectations, especially after a great season and they only two key players from last year's team. Now, more troubles for the Huskies - From what I understand, three key players from the team celebrated a little too much after they beat Miami for the...

Here is what I know. USA Hockey does not allow players to be dual rostered for many reasons. Minnesota Hockey has the same rule, again for obvious reasons. The spirit of the D6 rule is that players CAN play in other organized events such as Bernie's stickhandling clickes, breakfast clubs, Karns, etc...

Looks Like Dunn saved the day against Tech.

Year to date:

30 Mike Lee (PHO) 5 games: (save %) .924 (GAA) 2.15
41 Dan Dunn (WSH) 3 games: (save %) .924 (GAA) 1.98

I like how Dunn is not giving up and making it difficult on the coaching staff.

I think Lee will be the #1 guy. However, Dunn may have a different feeling. in the first game against UMD, Lee let a couple soft goals in. They started Dunn tonight and he was outstanding. 30 saves and voted #1 star of the game.

He played very strong agaist Miami in their first game too.

I appreciate your input - I just feel that the proliferation of all the so called AAA teams have bastardized the true meaning of AAA. When you speak to true AAA organizations around the country - they do understand who the legitimate AAA teams are so I do understand it and they just chuckle at what ...

How many AAA teams are there? This has really become a joke over the past years. There are AAA teams that have players that play at the B and even C level players during the winter. The concept of AAA is to have the best of the best compete - or at least that was the way it used to be. I am waiting ...

D6 has added the resurface back in to the Bantam A games. They will address this issue on 75 minute 14A games and 90 minute BA games with a resurface. Both BA and 14A games are 3 14 minute stop time periods - they are equal in actual game and ice time length for this season (and have been for many y...

SCSU Defense - Zabkowicz

I had a chance to watch SCSU play against Lethbridge and I thought their defense looked really solid. I was most impressed with Sam Zabkowicz who missed the last 10 games or so from last year due to head injury. Zabs looked like the real deal in the Lethbridge game and had a point in that game plus ...

John Kruse (Owatonna NAHL) is heading to Air Force too. Kind cool that both Kruse and Carew played together at Eden Prairie since mites - separated in HS, now back together in Juniors and will play at AF together.

My vote goes to Leddy. Ness is a very quick skater, however, Leddy is bigger and I think he may see the ice better. It wouldn't surprise me if Leddy is faster. Leddy is very deceptive - similar to Broten or Crowley. They didn't look like they were moving on the ice, however, because of their skating...

I do not know what the HM roster looks like after the suspensions and the lose or Duke - however they were skating 4 sophmores and a bunch of juniors.

Eden Prairie has been playing 12 soph's during most of the year and currently roster 10 soph's for the state.

Karl(east) - the point that Breakout makes without saying it is that these kids know how to win games. The atmosphere last Thursday was as big as you can get! EP will win the first two games. Reports from the Edina side is that Giles pulled someone in to help with the D from the NHL ranks. Must have...

At this point, D6 - Hewitt and the other D6 board is against it.

Neither Hewitt, Shuman, or Evans were able to attend the vote, thus another guy steped in at the last minute and voted yes - however, that does not represent the District 6 opinions.

Hard not to put Nick Leddy from EP in the discussion. Game in and game out - he is usually one of the best players on the ice. Like Everson and Ness, he is only a Junior and has committed to U of M.
