From a coaching standpoint, it's all about identifying with your players. If you've got you're players on board, and believing in you first, then the sky's the limit. On the flip side, if you run things like a drill sergeant...look out, that will certainly come back to haunt you unless you're coach...

A high school head coach should not dictate or get involved with the youth program. The coaches in the youth program should be qualified to teach there kids the game of hockey and get them to be better hockey players. I do not agree with the concept that a high school coach tells the youth program ...

Teams like who they like. GM's are going to base jack and crap on the CSS rankings. I'd be shocked if Ness isn't the first Minnesotan picked. That said, watch in June and you'll see how they go. Well put. Ness is not hype, he is the real deal. That is why he was Mr. Hockey.  :mrg...

Re: JGB Mr. Hockey & Goaltender of the Year

Now that the season is over, who do you think would win the Mr. Hockey or goaltender of the year award at the JGB level? I only saw a handful of games throughout the JGB season so my knowledge is limited. And I will only talk about my top three forward picks. I'll leave defense and goalies for some...

RAVE over Edina or Lakeville. They're a deeper team, they play smart defensively and a few of their guys are faster than most at this level. Honestly, they'll have their hands full. Whoever wins the Lakeville/Edina game will come to compete. But I wouldn't doubt it if any of the above teams get knoc...

I agree that JV is a place to develop younger players - not seniors. On a side note - I am discouraged by the frequent number of Seniors that are CUT to make room for Sophomores and Freshman (and sometimes 8th graders.) Although I understand the concept of playing equally talented "underclassma...

Hey RAVE - nice job against the Winnipeg team in the WI tournament. I know their coach and he was impressed with your team. Thanks for doing a good job of representing MN hockey.

I really need to chime in here boys... (I'm referring to the back and forth arguing on the previous page.) You can all argue about which team is better then the next. The truth is any team can beat another no matter what level of play - Junior Gold, High School, College & Pro. Yes, even Pro's ha...

So the RAVE beat CP 6-0?

I don't know much about these guys besides the fact that they're winning.

Do they have a hot goaltender? Or is the shutout related to good team defensive play?

It seems like they have some kids that can put the puck in the net, too.

Top JGB teams

I've been following the LPH rankings and it seems like there are several good teams in JGB. One team in particular that interests me are the RAVE. They apparently have lost only one game this season and it was a non-conference game. I just learned they took the championship at the Albert Lea Tourney...
