Re: whos takin class a next year
My money is on Blake. They are only losing 3 seniors who actually play and were definitely one of the best teams in the state by the end of this year - losing to TG 2-1 in sections (whom I think will actually beat Warroad to win the state title this year). They also had impressive wins over Benilde,...

Forgetting about 5A are we...
Seeing as 5 of the last 6 state titles have gone to the winner of 5A, I don't really forsee one of their teams at least not reaching the state finals. Seeing as Blake beat up on Duluth Marshall, the probable winner of 2A, and they're the #2 seed in section 5A, I just don't see the 2A team beating th...

They lose more than that...
In addition to the seniors they're loosing they're also going to lose the younger Fulton and Herd, who was living with the Fulton's. I also heard that they might lose Dee, but this is all heresay so we'll just have to wait and see.

better sections
Ok I agree that maybe the state tournament won't be the best eight teams, but it should definitely be better than it was yesterday. I posted something like this earlier but this is a little different take more related to this discussion.

If you want the sections to represent the general geogr...

and Breck will smoke Orono
I agree, you can't look past Breck here. I go out to the pond at woodhill and skate with the Orono kids and I can tell you they have nowhere near the skill as the top two lines at Breck. I don't think Orono would have gotten to the semifinals in section 5a (Blake, Breck, Benilde, Totino, Mahtomedi, ...

Private School's with their own tournament?
Watching Blake, Breck, Totino, Benilde, Lourdes, Holy Angels, Cretin Duram Hall, and Hill Murray would definitely be an interesting tournament. As far as recruiting goes I don't really know what you can say. What would you do if you had the opportunity to go to a school that offered you a better cha...

That'd be nice
If what you say is true that would definitely be a welcome addition to the state tournament.

I still think it would be a unfair to keep section 5a the way it is though. If Orono, Shattuck, and Lourdes get to make the tournament almost every year with no competition how can you rationalize Bl...

How to make the single A tournament more interesting
So Breck won 10-1 and South Saint Paul won 6-1 in the first two games today. No surprise, and on Friday Breck will probably roll over South Saint Paul en route to their second state championship in recent years. The question is, how do we fix it and make the state tournament a representation of the ...
