Bruce Plante of Hermantown pointed out that this was the big difference between STA and his team; whatever you think of his decision to make those comments, they were accurate. Plante's comment was shallow. It felt like he had a built-in excuse in case his team lost in the final. A more genuine app...

Bruce Olson. Roseau and Warroad coach.
There is only one guy that I can think of that has been the head coach at both Roseau and Warroad high school. He won the state tournament in 1999 with Roseau, yes they played AA, and he has brought Warroad to state on a few different occasions. That is a guy that is dedicated to high school hockey....

Its good to know that even when Roseau is having a rough year, they can still play with the best in the state. Congrats to Wayzata, they were the better team. Congrats to Moorhead, they played Hill tough also. Both teams had to play on the same ice so the cities can't use that as an excuse. 8AA show...

Roseau created the "pyramid to success" so after 60 years of playing Roseau I'm glad Warroad is finally catching on.black sheep wrote:warroad is a major measuring stick for roseau...they are on the "pyramid to success"HockeyFan1 wrote: but not a measuring stick for Roseau as it appears to be for you.

Maybe they will meet in the section 8AA finals? Just remembered, Warroad would rather play in the Tier 2 tournament. Must be embarrassing to be 5-1 against a tier two team over the last 3 years Warroad has had the upper hand lately but remember that it goes in cycles. Each team takes turns winning ...

    Empire, you just said in a different thread that success is like honey, attracts more and more. That said, the main reason why the Warroad's high school team has success and the lower levels don't is because Hasbargan and Fermoyle have a very good system they use for the va...

This whole string of comments is such a great example of how strong the Roseau/Warroad rivalry runs deep in our blood. Young and old, we will always be true to our towns. Isn't it great! I agree 100%. It's fun reading all of the posts. Not having played in the rivalry since the separation of classe...

I honestly believe that neither teams have fun in these kind of situations. I don't think coaches and players (majority of them) want to win 15-0, unless it's for the state title. Nobody likes being on the losing end either. I don't think much can be done about it, that's why we always have the same...

I remember a few years ago when Hill Murray won the title there was an article in the paper saying they had 93 kids try out for varsity. Roseau does have 34 squirts on there roster but every kid in that town plays hockey when they are younger. They lose kids every year just like everyone else. By th...

Re: Roseau vs. Warroad 1/13
Who will win this great american rivalry? Rivalry no more, nothing on the line but pride now. What's the best part of this rivalry? Is it the opposing student sections? Is it the entire town coming out for both clubs? Is it the on-ice rivalry between the kids? A bit of it all? All of the above, but...

I agree with hswatcher. HM has a huge advantage in the structure of his program, if you know what I mean. I watched WBL and STA today and thought it was a good game. STA has a lot of talent and skill but they aren't very smart (to a certain degree). I thought WBL has speed and some grinders, they ha...

MSHL should follow olympic/NHL example and get rid of ridiculous OT standard. One OT and then go to a shoot out. 4, 5, 6 7 Ot's is just stupid. You can fix stupid. 8) Having an elimination game decided by a shootout is the worst idea I've ever heard. It is good enough for the olympics and the NHL. ...
