As I was not living at that time. It had no effect on me.
I do recall that game in 78 and the one in 04, but say they didn.t have running time in the in 04 who to say what the score wouldn't have been been alot worst than 15-1 maybe 23-1
True no running time...in 1978 they sent the top line to the showers during the second period, coulda been 32-0.
Empire, you just said in a different thread that success is like honey, attracts more and more.
That said, the main reason why the Warroad's high school team has success and the lower levels don't is because Hasbargan and Fermoyle have a very good system they use for the varsity program. They find kids to fit various roles and don't deviate much from this strategy. They play very defensively and almost try to shell the goalie. It's amazing what good coaching can do.
I would agree with you that systems and philosophies do make a difference. To a point of course.
I just have to laugh at any accusation of recruiting. Seems most are guilty until proven innocent. At least around here.

The coaching is decent, they do a good job. I will not argue that. But that is not the MAIN reason why Warroad has success.
You must have your blinders on if you think Warroad isn't bringing in players. Laugh all you want but just realize you are wrong. If you want to argue about this PM me and I might give you the details.
They have 3 new kids on their bantam team, where did they come from?

I'm not saying people don't move there. But we can't know the reason for sure why they move there. People make it sound like there is some guy with the last name Marvin who travels around the state scouting talent and comes knocking on their door promising jobs. I know that there are new kids on the Bantam team but I don't know why their parents moved here and I'm not going to jump to conclusions like most people will. Even with the new kids on the team, I understand the Warroad bantam team isn't doing very well this year. When they get to high school the team will be more competitive for the exact reason I raised above.

I believe Marvins was/is on a hiring freeze so unless the players parents plan on being unemployed just so their kid can sport a warrior sweater, one would assume they are working somewhere OTHER than Marvins, just a hunch tho. Weird that there are actually other jobs in town that can satisfy a person's career choice. As for the players, the Bantams are not doing very well, 4-5-1 in the district, so I would assume these players are not standouts by any means. The point is that once they get to high school, the pride kicks in, and the coaching staff puts together a winning product in the end no matter what the beginning product is/was.
I could give a sh** who Warroad puts on the ice. Bottom line is the Rams are down and need to pick it up to be in the hunt for a return to the State tournament
According to the Roseau hockey website, the Roseau Bantam A team has defeated Warroad by a combined score of 26 - 3 this season ! Now, Warroad may have great coaches, I have no idea, but doesn't it make you think that there might be something going on up in Warroad if they can "improve" their kids SO much, that they think they can overcome a mismatch like this in just a year or two ?? C'mon Man !

Well you are talking about bantam scores from this year. It will take awhile to see what the scores of the games will be when these kids are on varsity. Plus you gotta see who is on either team at the time. Besides that, Roseau Bantam team is extremely good.

Must be embarrassing to be 5-1 against a tier two team over the last 3 years
Warroad has had the upper hand lately but remember that it goes in cycles. Each team takes turns winning and it will always be that way. Your statement just adds to the argument that Warroad should pull up their skirts and play with the big boys.

You're right about that, it does go in cycles. But, the cycles don't seem to care what classes the schools are in. I'm not against Warroad opting up to AA. I think it would be great. However, I don't think the school should be obligated to just because Roseau did. They are the exception, not the rule.
The part of the equation that is never brought up is the added cost of playing AA. Warroad is a school district that made drastic changes to its a budget two years ago like moving to a four day school week so they could save about $200,000 and some teaching positions. I hardly think they can afford to move up. I'm sure they value the teachers more than they do the hockey program. Warroad is losing students every year and with that is lost revenue. I think this is the biggest part of them staying put in A. Winning a AA title would be nice, but not when you gotta cut teachers to do it.

Sure increased costs and reduced revenues come in to play when it comes to education.....but if you think the reason Warroad doesn't move up is cost related, you're kidding yourself.
When it comes to the hockey, certain people or organizations in Warroad would have plenty of funds if they so choose to make the move.

If your only measuring stick to your season is how you do against Roseau, then congratulations this year. I'm sure neither team likes losing to the other, but from what I've seen - Warroad is simply another game on the schedule in the past several years for Roseau. Sure it has more of a "flair" to the game, but not a measuring stick for Roseau as it appears to be for you.
The added travel costs alone would be staggering. Roseau is the only close AA school. Sure they already play Moorhead once a year but that means they only drive there once every other year. And Bemidji is close enough to not be an issue. But for pretty much everyone else in the section it would be over a 4 hour drive each way. The fee for playing sports is only going up trying to keep up with the costs they have right now. The parents of these kids would have to play over $200 just for that sport alone if they opted up. Families just can't afford that, especially if the kids play more than one sport. And there is only so much money you can raise from the community.
And Hockeyfan, the Roseau games are not the measuring stick for Warroad's season. Sweeping Roseau doesn't mean much if they miss the state tournament. Believe it or not, their goal is to make the tournament, even if it is the lowly, no talent, JV tourny that is held in the Xcel for some reason unknown to man. Try explaining to the community how you can justify adding thousands of miles to the travel of the hockey team when the reason you went to a four day week is to limit the amount of bus travel. And contrary to belief, whenever there is a shortage of funds people don't just go knocking on a Marvin's door like you are implying. That is the biggest misconception ever about Warroad.

Warroad could keep their same schedule if they wanted to. You don't have to play all AA schools if you opt up. They would just enter the AA for sections. No moe cost involved.
