I like Tech, but but being outshot nearly 4 to 1 isn't going to get it done. Tech is good offensively and in goal but defense is a big sore spot and it gets exposed against good teams. East seems to have thought it was going to mail this in and that's a bad attitude to have against a team that can s...

Bemidji over St.Cloud Tech 3-2 in OT with 43 seconds left. Bemidji clearly the better teams with quality chances and more shots on goal. They were fortunate to get the OT win at home. How can Bemidji be fortunate when they outshot the Tigers by at least 11 shots? It sounds as though the Tig...

It was a hell of a game. Both teams hung in there like tired prize fighters and fatigue was definitely a major factor for both teams. It is a cliche, but it really is a shame there has to be a team eliminated after a game like that. It was a memorable one for everyone who saw it. Hats off to all the...

Yeah, it was good. The Times better stick to these kinds of stories and more of them if they hope to keep readers. This kind of stuff gets local people reading. The stories on Poganski and the Sauk Rapids kid both pursuing their dreams were good, as well. I hardly ever read the national stuff they d...

Cheese Wagon: You turned out to be right in your prediction so far on Tech. Lot of people thought they would come out strong -- going to be tough sledding for these boys this year. Trying to get some inside dope on what's going on but several of the parents aren't sayin much. don't want to be too qu...

Thanks for the clarification on the point I am making. No one is disputing what the law is. The point is, some offenses are more serious when it comes to alcohol than others, judging by how the offender is treated. Not all alcohol offenses are treated equally under THE LAW. Under the high school lea...

Who said they were new? I stated I had not seen that you could get the penalty waived in an alcohol case if you agreed to undergo treatment, as someone earlier posted. That was my point of my post. I asked where in the handbook or the rules this was stated. In fact, it clearly states there is no exc...

It's a bit odd in the sense that driving a vehicle while intoxicated is by orders of magnitude a far more serious offense in society than having a beer or two as a minor -- thus the legal implaction of DUI vs. a minor consumption and the penalty difference the law applies, yet the MSHL treats them o...

What I think is interesting is the rule doesn't differentiate between alcohol offenses. For example, one kid could be picked up at a house party, blow a .02 or something really low and get a minor. Another kid could get picked up with a .20 while driving a car and the punishment is the same. That st...

I'd pick Tech straight up to win the section, but they lost two players to Midget and Canadian juniors. Still, very strong. On second thought, I'll still take them in the section. In fact, I'll go out on a limb early. I'll take them for 1 this year and in 2010/2011. There, that ought to heat this bo...

Well, thanks for the advice, but I'll put them behind Tech, just the same. Tech has a very talented junior class -- one that ranked in the top five as bantams in their final year. Tech will be young, and their chances at success may be even better next year, but they will be a lot to handle for any ...

Don't know if I agree with that at all, cheese wagon. These kids (the key players) have played together since squirts. Many of them were B1 squirts and played A together in pee wees and bantams. They have some very good ability, parental craziness nonwithstanding. It is less about who the coach is t...

Not much in the way of updates. The AD of one of the schools passed on the info that 7 applied and 5 were interviewed. I know for sure that three of them interviewed were Craig Larson, Neil Andruschak (the new Tech coach) and Pete Mantanich. Don't know the other two are who were interviewed. Mike De...

Goldy: Where have you been? This whole board is based on rumors and opinion and speculation. Very little is based on fact. That's kind of what it is for. You get facts by reading a newspaper (now that's funny). But seriously, we do know these facts. Tech has a coach. About 7 people applied for both ...

Tiger33: Huh? I don't have a clue what you're talking about. You complain about the parents, when at Tech, in reality, only a small number went to the AD and some of those were parents of past players who had a grudge. The vast majority DID NOT WANT A CHANGE. The change was made by the administratio...

Because apparently the person they selected must have turned it down. In addition, they had qualified people who wanted it, but apparently they didn't want them (or him). I know. I talked to him. Can't say who, but he would have been an excellent choice. They are playing games over there, and they a...
