AAA teams??????? Not even close. The Co-ops are still restricted by boundries. If you combined 1 community that had 29 bantams try out and another that had 45 bantams try out you now have a Co-op of 74 skaters to choose from. AAA selects from all over. My sons team last year had St. Cloud, Duluth, R...

Play 4 fun - Honestly I have no idea where it is written that a player can leave if their association does not offer the A level. What I do know is I saw it happen more than a few times in district 1 which is why teams like Como and Irondale went back to A teams. Toomuchtosoon - In the stereotypical...

Toomuchtosoon - Does your child/children skate in a large or small association? If large what do you propose the small associations do? My children have skated for 2 different district 2 teams (large), 1 district 1 team (small), and I have one kid that has skated with the fire (AAA). My best solutio...

Here is the problem with prohibiting an association from playing A due to their enrollment. Under Minnesota Hockey if your association does not offer an A program then you can waiver out to an association that does. Usually they want this to stay within the district. The small associations are alrea...

elliot - From everything I have read over the past couple years you are on the MH board correct? Our association told the coaches here in the metro it was required by USAH/MH. I would say 4 out of 5 coaches think this blue puck is a joke, the thing bounces around like a freakin' superball.

Fred you are amazing. This post had me drooling after the first paragraph. I don't even have to go watch the Peewee state tournament with the info you provide. Thank you for the tireless effort you put into this information.

The light weight puck that is required at the mite level. Now a 5 year old can try to snipe the corner from the hashmarks. What happens when they get to squirts and the puck is now heavier, a whole new feel and transition that could have been accomplished in 4 years of mites.

Another option could be Co-ops at the Peewee and Bantam level between 2 or 3 smaller associations. This is becoming more and more common in the Bantam level across the state, ie.......River Lakes, River Heights, North Metro, ect, ect........... The associations operate individually for 6 years as mi...

Ok netminder, prior to my long post we have 8 posts about JG from Woodbury whom I agree should be in the discussion. I brought up LK from Forest Lake. If giving opinions of many players that people have seen = 8 posts about JG then I stand corrected. BTW.................Who would your vote got to on...

I stand corrected, I reread the question and it does specify think.

I am a big boy, I apologize.

I do stand by the premise of my words though, lets get some opinions and names from around the state. Even then there will be virtually no way to narrow this down to 1.

OK star, lets talk about this particular thread. Whom do you peg as the smartest Bantam A in the state. How many of the 100+ coaches have you talked with. Criteria - Skill above average, ice awareness, sees play before it happens, activity without the puck, special teams play, locker room, leadershi...

The best Goalies are the best pure atheletes. Therefor having the kids skate out for 4 years will only make them better. A strong skating goalie is very important at the Bantam level and above. You could also make a case for the Peewee A level. Plus I remember coaching mites and every kid wanted the...

I am having trouble figuring out what relativity private school enrollment has to do with the competitivness of the youth levels. Most don't even start pulling players until 9th grade which is 2nd year Bantams. Then only 2 I can think of that pull earlier off the top of my head are Shattuck and Brec...

One would have to coach every kid to be able to effectivly answer this question. If you don't take a coaches pole of the smartest player on each of their teams you might as well be asking, "Who is the best dressed Bantam A in the state".

I think the noise makers should shut their mouths for the sake of their kids and the association and watch the game for what it is. A youth sporting activity. Talk to me in 10 years if you think your kid is going pro.

I will preface by saying I have no idea what the correct solution is here. I don't know if there is a full proof solution for this. But I will say this, two things need to dictate what is done, devlopement and enthusiasm (fun) so the kids that do play continue to return. There are 3 things that play...
