Bantam A or HS/JV

Should a 9th grade kid, who is also a 2nd year Bantam play Bantam A or High School JV? I'm know there are many variables such as... How good of a Bantam A program are you in? How good of a HS program are you going to? Are you going to ride the bench on the JV team? Are you going to play a lot on the...

LPH Bantam B1 rankings

D3 appears to have 6 Bantam B1 teams represented in the first LPH rankings. Wayzata Blue/Gold/Navy, OMGHA Crimson/Black and North Metro.

Question: Are those Wayzata and OMGHA teams balanced, or do they stack a top team or two?

Extended Tryouts

One thing that I've seen done is to delay team placement decisions for 3-4 weeks. This is only really practical at the Squirt level since their games don't start until Dec. For those 3-4 weeks, you basically have some temporary teams, have practices, games, etc... Then after you've had a nice long l...

Last years PeeWee group in Wayzata probably could have pulled off 2 'A' teams and had both in the 10 top. They had the #2 ranked PWA team (finished 3rd at State) and their 3 PWB1 teams were all top 10 (including Blue who won State). However, they excluded this years Bantam group from going the 2 'A'...

I agree, although probably still top 20... I think this move by Wayzata will sort of shift the power in D3 to OMGHA, who isn't going with 2 'A' teams.

I also noticed in their board meeting minutes that Wayzata will have a Bantam B1-1 and a B1-2 team, the same way that OMGHA has in the past.

If you waive out of an association because there is no A team offered, do you have to actually make the A team in your receiving association? if you don't make that new A team and then have to go back to your original association, how do you get placed on a team? are you back to the bottom of the ba...

Waivers

What is the process for getting a waiver? I can't find the form anywhere online, so I suspect you need to get it from your current association. In my case, my son attends a school within the boundaries of a different association and I think I'd like for him to play there this year. From my understan...

Opposite perspective

This is kind of a perspective from the opposite end of the spectrum... My son plays in a very small association within the Metro area. If we are lucky we'll have 2 teams at each level (BA, PW SQ) next year. We debate whether those teams should be A and B2, or B1 and B2, etc... One question that alwa...

In my (limited) experience, at a tryout like this for an established team, if they see someone on the ice that they are interested in, they will go up to the kid and ask them his/her name. Otherwise, they just watch and don't really care who the kids are.

Miracle and United AAA Tryouts from Sept 12th

MN Miracle and the United AAA group had tryouts at Schwan's on Sept 12th (maybe it was the 11th - I don't remember). It was supposedly tryouts for Miracle Gold, Miracle United, Bauer Supreme and HBTC. How would that work with 4 teams? Who gets the first pick of kid's? Has anyone who was there heard ...

PeeWee Choice League

Can anyone add any insight into the new PeeWee Choice league that MM is will be offering this winter? I think it is new anyway.

The PeeWee level at our association isn't going to be very strong, probably not even have an A team, so I'm wondering if this wouldn't be a good supplement for my son.

As my UserID implies, I'm just a Newbie Dad in the stands ~ I have no say over anything. It wouldn't have bothered me if they had kept score, but it still seemed like a productive scrimmage even though they didn't. Generally speaking, when AAA teams "scrimmage" each other, does that mean t...
