Would have made them better players and leaders come March 1st. Why would playing down a level make them better players? Why would hanging out with 13-14 year olds improve their leadership skills more than being led by 17-18 year olds? Think about this math: 17 weeks of varsity is 102 activities (6...

Karl:
By the way, your "needs" descriptions were almost all right on. I have not seen all of the top teams, but have seen most of them. Nice job.

Karl: thanks for doing this. You inspire discussion. Now my two cents. Wayzata is way too high. They have not beaten a ranked opponent since November. Their only two such games were lost to teams you have well behind them. They should not be ahead of either BSM or Jefferson. (If Eagan is top 10, the...

Wow. Losses to Eagan, LVN and Centenniel (so). Jefferson is a good team, but they are missing something.

I just checked out the leaders on mnhockeyhub.com. Of the 17 Minnesota players who have 30 points or more, only three of them play on ranked AA teams (Knochemus, Omdahl and Bjugstad) and only five total are AA players (the other two are from Andover). It is fair to say that strong players will get w...

Target Center will be an excellent venue for the section finals. 12,000 people will fill the lower bowl plus more. NHL instead of Olympic size. If they can get the ice right, it will be outstanding.

I just checked Wayzata's results on hockeyhub. They have not beaten any ranked team (by hockeyhub) since they beat Edina in November. They did beat Centennial on 12.3.09. The highest ranked teams (by karl) they have played since are # 11 Osseo (tied) and #12 Bsm (lost). They have not proven themselv...

IMO, Wayzata is over rated. In the SLP tournament, they finished 2-1 in fourth place (consolation champ) with wins over two unranked opponents. Centennial was 3-0; Jefferson was 2-1; BSM was 2-1 and beat Wayzata head to head. Centenniel was better than Wayzata in record (3-0) and in style points, be...

Even Dino Ciccarelli's production would go down if he lost a linemate like Gardiner. Actually, anyone's production will probably go down from there (eight goals in three games) even if Gardiner were still around.

Hey, let's give Teak some help here. I would like to see some comments based on games watched. Many frosh are making contributions that are not on the scoreboard.

I will start:
I saw Reno from Edina earlier in the year and he looked good. I heard he has played very well in the Schwan's cup.

gomnhky you convinced me. Blaine belongs in Tier 2, even though they have been "just missing" against the very best. I will go out on a limb here. I will put Edina in the Tier 1 with Minnetonka. I know Tonka has clearly been the class of MSHSL this year, but Edina has beaten Blaine twice a...

Great idea. Here is some food for thought After this week. neither HM nor Wayzata should be ranked higher than BSM or Centennial, but they should not be in a lower tier either. Centennial beat up BSM and beat Jefferson (shootout). They deserve to be up in tier 3. BSM beat Wayzata and then dominated ...

The youngest AAA age group is creeping downward. In the USA, the youngest age for years were the kids turning nine (2001s in 2010). Two years ago, MinnMade made their starting age lower by putting 2000 kids on their lower 99 teams. This year, MM sent out a brochure telling parents that it is time to...

Two losses in the top five yesterday. 2HM loses to 5Blaine, which lost to 4Edina by 1-0. Won't hurt the pioneers too much, unless HM loses again this week. 12Benilde beats 3Wayzata, which should put both teams in the 5-10 range. If Benilde or Jefferson win the SLP tournament, that team might replace...

In the tournaments (pairings are below), every one of the top six teams is playing teams that could beat them. Next week's rankings could be completely different. A couple of wins from any combination of Holy Angels, Blaine, Duluth East, Benilde and Moorhead sould really shake things up. All of thes...

I agree. The best "B" teams all have a few "A" level players, whether b/c of huge numbers (Edina/Wayzata/ OMGHA) or because they field no "A" team (Shak/Waconia/small towns). That's the way it is. Shakopee PWB1 beat one Edina team and lost to the other and also lost to ...
