If you look back a week, Spar actually moves WBL up a spot from 10 to 9 after losing to centennial

Re: A Rankings for 1/28/24
Egads! The A tournament could see a sub 500 team seeded? No wonder there's no drama in the first round. It would save a lot of money to hold those games at the home rink of the higher seeds. Disagree with that take but again everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For what it's worth at least th...

Re: A Rankings for 1/14/24
I'm genuinely curious about something. In the write up on Mahtomedi, the win over Hastings is highlighted, and it is specifically mentioned that Hastings is AA. Now, Hastings has not been any sort of a factor in AA this year, and really for some time. I think a couple/three years ago they made a li...

Re: 1AA and 8AA
You must not follow Class A much or look at the strength of schedule. I still see Zephyrs as the 4 or 5 seed at State. Depends on who wins 2A. But if they somehow ended up as unseeded would make for a fun Wednesday and would give a top 3 seed a heck of a game. I think the Class A SF and Championshi...

Class A Looking to have Better QF Games than AA! :D :D :D :D :D Never happened before but this year seems primed to happen Defending Champs Zephs could be unseeded  I sure hope a team in a cake walk of a section that is 4-7 and would be lucky to end the year at .500 would be unseeded. Re: D1 Commits from recent year CCHA alums
Good research SpreadOut Question : Would they all have similarly been within any recent four year high school eligibility period ? (Obviously if I'd gone back further there would have been some more big CCHA names. Incl Koster , Warnert, Burkholder , LaVelle , and Brink thru peewees ) Anyone out th...

Re: Class AA QF - Hill-Murray vs #1 Minnetonka
Roseau 34 Let's hope Roseau makes it next year. Eventually Hill will pass them (and maybe even Edina who tries to claim 37 or so times at state), but I like the idea of it being a northern team. Roseau has such good teams for such a small town. I think the argument for Edina claiming 37 trips to st...

Re: Section Playoffs Super Saturday 2-26-22 Games
Surprised I haven't seen a post about Edina-Wayzata yet. A phenomenal high school hockey game. Tight-checking, but plenty of scoring chances. Physical, but not dirty. Outstanding goaltending. There were many embraces between Hornets and Trojans after the game. A ton of respect shown between two wel...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/30/22
Overall, there is parity, with no one or 2 or 3 dominant teams. What I find interesting that some of these sections are a little lacking compared to recent years. Sections 1, 2, and 5 don't look very potent. Not that I'm counting anyone out. No offense but section 4 looks worse than 5. I might argu...

Green what are you up to nowadays ? Obviously a long ways removed from your Braemar Zam days? For work, I help in the construction of wind and solar farms doing various tasks. I have a role that is 50% in the Twin Cities where I work in GIS and then the other 50% is on the road. It is pretty nice, ...

I keep hearing the "got to do better" but honestly everywhere I go masks are worn by ALL. What else are we supposed to do? Where are you going where you're seeing people not wear masks? I'd say that from all of my travels as of late, at least 75% have been wearing masks. But that is based...

Re: Edina 2010's All-Decade Team
I’m with Doc and think Girard probably get the nod for me over Benjamin.
I also think Benny Walker might deserve a spot on the list over Jordahl. Probably doesn’t have the points Jordahl did, but he didn’t benefit from playing with Hurley and Malmquist.

I know they were called the Cougars. They use to sell Edina West T shirts at General sports around 2010.
Not sure what the colors were, but the shirts made it seem like their colors were still Green and Gold. The green might have been a bit darker than East's but that is my best guess.

Re: state championships
I don't either. You can count them when you combine schools except when you were once two schools. It does seem unfair to have two chances at a title and count those the same as the rest of the schools that had one. Just like I've seen one or two places where WBL tries to count the Mariner 2nd plac...

Without looking- Which six teams have won five or more state championships? I do remember from about 10 years ago that people from Roseau don't recognize Edina East's as an Edina state championship. I don't either. You can count them when you combine schools except when you were once two schools. I...

Re: Minnesota Article on Eden Prairie
What's interesting about EP is that their numbers are much lower compared to their Lake & District 6 counterparts. EP seems to have very good higher end talent at the AA teams, but not even close to the depth of the lower teams of the others. They don't have a Pee Wee A team, with their 2nd tea...

Looked at the box score and it was 5-2 for team USA. Their first 3 goals were scored by Minnesota kids.

Re: Which Varsity programs utilize their JV teams well?
Well, I’ll give one example from last year Most astonishing that Kevin Delaney made Edina varsity as a senior, having played JV until then. I think he ended up with 25 points or so , And was a real sparkplug . The Edina graduating class from 2015 comes to mind. Guys like Perunovich, Meyer, Fuss, Mi...

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?
I have always been a Giles guy, I think if you listen to his interviews he shows that he really cares for the kids. I always felt like that going to his camps and during tryouts. He remembered me as a squirt and pee wee even when I was not one of the highly skilled kids. He has won 4 titles in 10 ye...
