This seems to be an annual discussion, understandably so. The challenge is that there's really no one size fits all answer. It's fairly easy to point to a school like Blake and say that despite their enrollment size (518 by the MSHSL site) their performance argues for them being in AA. Fair argument...

You know, reading all this makes me kind of grateful that my daughter plays for a team that isn't all that good. She can go win some, lose a few more, and actually enjoy the game of hockey without it turning into a soap opera with a cast of characters who, when it comes right down to it, don't have ...

Girls locker rooms
My daughter plays for a co-op. They practice at a different country arena than they play at, and don't have their own locker room. Between practices they either haul their gear home, or leave it in an unheated shed inside the arena, so if it's especially cold their gear is frozen. The only ice time ...

Yeah. Didn't have a clue whether varsity or JV. Whichever.AAA Dad wrote:
Do you mean a previous TCA player is now at Achiever playing JV only?? There are no co-opted players that I know of on AA girls team.

Re: Section Assignments
Looks like AHA is back in Section 5A, did they tweak the sections again, or did I miss something along the way. I think you're right, there has been some tweaking going on recently. St. Louis Park is back in 5A too. Section 4A still looks to be messed up a bit. Earlier Achiever Academy had Great Ri...

Re: Co-op changes/additions (2013-14)
One correction - Great River (a St Paul Charter School) is NOT co-oping with AA. The coop between GR and AA was dissolved although I don't know what that means for the TCA/AA part of it. GR and TCA last year were co-oped with the St Paul Blades. I'm reading into this but I'd bet there was an unders...

Very nice 36guy. That's classy stuff. Mr. 101, waaaaay to serious. Just adding a little humor to these "everything is personal" forums. A little poke and jab is all that was intended. Have great friends from up there on those teams and I am the proud owner of a Roseau Hockey sweatshirt th...

Outstate teams
Very nice 36guy. That's classy stuff. I know it's a shock to hockey fans who lie awake at night seeding and re-seeding Section 6AA in their heads, but they do make with the hockey outside the Metro. They also have indoor plumbing and electric lights. Or so I'm told. Tonka vs. BSM or Edina vs. HM mig...

Sue's... I don't doubt other coops are in the same situation. That's part of my point with saying enrollment alone doesn't tell you much about what programs actually are capable of on the ice and that if competitive balance does matter, it can't be the only yardstick, or even the most important one....

Re: Section Assignments
Funny that doesn't work in other places. Enrollment is enrollment regardless how many hockey players you have. Certainly it works other places, and in both directions... If everything is based on enrollment, why do Roseau (371), Benilde-St Margrets (897), Holy Angels (691) and Hill Murray (599) pla...

Re: Section Assignments
[quote="MinnGirlsHockey"] * St. Paul Blades and Minnehaha Saints were swapped between 4AA and 4A. I’m not sure that I understand this one, Blades have a total co-op enrollment of 5778 and Minnehaha has a total co-op enrollment of 1976. Also, if M’haha were to remove the 2 Lutheran schools ...

School size and such
I think it goes beyond just section make-up, and I also think basing class solely on enrollment is incredibly deceptive, especially when you look at some of the Co-op programs. . I realize this is a larger issue perhaps, but I think it still fits in to the conversation - if the conversation is about...
