Farewell to the Govies

Found this out there. Sad to see another program with such rich tradition go down.

Re: Eden Prairie -- Coop with Who?

I think the bigger question here is what are youth programs doing to recruit girls to play. Clearly there are uphill battles to be fought with other sports requiring people to play year-round but a school that has nearly 3,000 students should be able to get 30 girls to play hockey. Yes, demographic...

Moe to Edina is brutal. The twins at their 3rd program in so many years. EP co-op’d with PL at 15’s a few years ago but I guess PL has the numbers to stand on their own.

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

There are definitely parents who refuse to see the writing on the wall but to the point of these advisors all having ill intensions, I do not believe that to be the case. Sure they make a living doing this type of work but it could simply be about a kid wanting to extend playing a game he/she loves....

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

One thing I think people who say “EP won’t get as many transfers as you think” forget what Lincoln does for a living. Working for an advising group, who more or less shop their unhappy players around to other schools in the offseason (I’ve seen it first hand, not specifically with Hawkeye but advis...

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

EP’s AA Peewee team went 11-33-2 last year. They got blown out of the arena against the top teams. Prior to the season, what would have been EP’s two best players—Crowley’s kid and the Sylvia kid (his dad played for Boston University)—“transferred,” with Crowley “transferring” to Tonka’s AA Peewee ...

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

I won’t say too much here but let’s just say that EP will get 4-5 top end to good players at the Bantam and HS this coming season. At least that’s what is going around. There will be be some that leave too but it is in line with actually being a destination for transfers and move ins to my point. Ta...

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

Yes EP will never go back to its glory years of winning unless this new coach can recruit like a SEC football coach. My thoughts are the AD made a huge mistake with this hiring and the initial reaction will be more abandonment by key families. EP families probably wanted a "higher profile"...

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26

So I know nothing about him, but I can’t imagine this is how those parents who chased out Twig saw this one playing out like this. The reality is Eden Prairie is a dying program. It’s going the way of other former powerhouses like Burnsville and Bloomington Jefferson. The city is fully developed, t...

headsupsticksdown--You seem to be a little plugged in, or at least know someone that knows someone. What are you hearing about the EP coaching search? I heard two things, so who knows if it's true, but this is a message board, so it's fun to throw this on a wall: 1) An assistant interviewed & w...

By the way, Dean is a total dbag and you can quote me on that. Yep. But he gets away with all the crap he does with OMG “because his kid is really good.” Apparently, that’s literally ALL that matters. That’s the catch 22. You want to keep the supposedly good players. But with that comes these total...

Re: Coaching Changes

Yes. Crowley (along with a couple other kids I believe) transferred to Tonka, adding to an already potent lineup for Tonka’s Peewee AA team. They won state last weekend. According to Gamesheet, in the 25 games posted on the app, Crowley had 22 goals and 34 assistants (56 points) in those 25 games. ...

Re: Coaching Changes

I think EP is a sinking ship and the powers that be in the program are bitter about it and looking to blame someone, so they are taking it out on Twigs. The dads of the two best peewee players in EP going into the season—Mike Crowley and Mike Sylvia (who played for Boston University when Crowley pl...
