Perhaps exposing Delanos weakness- defense???
And now it’s tied. Can’t say this didn’t seem to have running time written all over it once Delano went up 2-0 pretty early!

Only thing I can think of is if there was a tie of some sort. That’s happened with the girls awards the last couple years and both times that specific award had their finalists delayed.

2026 Reed Larson Award

Were finalists ever announced for Reed Larson? They're usually announced Monday or Tuesday of tournament week but I haven't seen anything yet.

Re: Bantams still a good predictor of HS success

Edina won the 2023 state Bantam championship, defeating Minnetonka, Grand Rapids & Moorhead at the state tournament. All are in this year's AA HS tourney. The old adage going back 40 years or more is that the state Bantams is a good predictor of HS success 2-3 years out. Also in the field were ...

Re: 7AA Final - #1 Grand Rapids vs. #2 Rock Ridge

Went to the game, meeting up with Karl and a couple of his friends. Was fun. As with Saturday, Rapids started slow but took over in the 2nd. Rock Ridge looked a bit gassed late in the game. The better team won tonight but could be fodder for someone on Thursday. Lee I agree they could be fodder. To...

Gentry becomes only the fifth team other than HM or WBl to win 4AA/historic 3AA since HM joined in 1975. First team besides HM, WBL or Stilly to win it since Centennial in 2004. WOW.

Re: Section 4AA final

A Gentry win would make this the first state tournament since 1986 with more than one 5 or worse section seed at the state tournament. Denfeld, South St. Paul, and Richfield were all low seeds that year. To note for Moorhead: Burnsville successfully defended their title that year

Re: 6AA Final - #2 Edina vs #4 Wayzata

A couple of fluky Bode McConnell goals make it 2-1 Edina. I still don't feel like the Hornets are playing very well, (although I was looking at a black screen for half the period) but here they are with a lead headed to the 3rd. From what I saw (heard) Edina dominated that period. 12-4 in shots I t...

Re: Parent Coaches at High School?

I am very well versed in the girls high school hockey scene. And yes from an outside perspective it would seem to work well for the H-M girls. They are a loaded team that has had a ton of success. With that being said even in that situation it is not as clear cut as it may seem. Calling Johnny Pohl...

Re: 2026 Official AA & A Seedings

Edina’s 4-1 loss to Wayzata last night likely makes Rogers the number 1 seed in 6AA. The section has 4 of the top 14 in the state according to PageStat, and that doesn’t factor in positive results for the Trojans and Holy Angels this week. And that's with a down year for Benilde. Very dumb putting ...

Re: Changes to State Tournament Schedule

Very silly for every tournament besides Boys AA. Neither girls tournament nor the boys tournament have the depth to guarantee a good 3v6 game let alone 2v7 game. Makes sense if the standpoint is that the 1 seed should have as much time as possible between their first game and the championship game. ...

Re: QRF Ranking AA

Just another reason why I like doing composite rankings. It averages out all the quirks of the computer rankings and objectivity of humans. I feel QRF is too low on STA and too high on Farmington just quick glance. Last week, it had Farmington as a top 10 team. No other ranking system considered Fa...

Obligatory counterpoint from a Hornet fan. I believe Giles coaches them to find where the line is each night and play right to it. The message is you are going to have to buckle up every time you play Edina. They are one of the most disciplined teams out there once playoffs roll around. Another com...

It's been a long road for FLake. My memory is a bit foggy, but in 1975 they were the first team Hill played in their first season in the MSHSL, in what was then Region 3. I recall that as we were leaving the 16-1 pounding the Rangers took that my Old Man said, "We're not going to the first rou...

Is Breck back? I know SPA isn't particularly good, but 16–0 is 16–0. That's the kind of score they'd put up against the Providences and Minnehahas of the world back in the day.

Re: AA Preseason Rankings for 2025-2026

Curious what departures drop Edina down to 7, since it seems like they're the last team left with returner question marks. Either way, I'm not against a team with elite defense and goaltending that'll win a lot of games 1-0 and 2-1. Feels like the kind of team Giles loves to have in February and Ma...
