Rochester D1 Commitments

"Riese Zmolek from Rochester Century to Mankato State. It's been a while since a Rochester player went D1, Alex Kangas might be the last one about a decade ago" Here are a few others from Rochester who played D1 hockey; Pete Spratte, Lake Superior State, Brandon Bahneman, Bentley Universit...

Bahnemann to Bentley University

Good point. Great school academically and the hockey program is on the rise. Their hockey progam moved into Division 1 in 1999 and have one of the youngest head coaches in D1 hockey. Several Minnesota kids including Erik Peterson, Ryan Kayfes, Anders Olson, Brandon Graffunder and Jeremy Robert are o...

More kool aid please

I stick to my point that most who play in the MJHL will not even play D3. If they want to chase their dream fine. Be very skeptical of what you hear from your coaches. Most will tell you what you want to hear. They are salesman whose job goal is quite different (make money) from the player's goal (m...

One thing I agree with you on is that Juniors is for development. I said that most of these kids in the MJ will not move on beyond D3. The committed players from the EJHL committed when they were younger not because they play in the EJHL. Most of these kids have no where else to play out east unless...

the difference is that in high school kids primary role is to go to school whereas in tier 3, I'm not sure what their primary role is? just to play hockey and go to school part time? play hockey and work part time? just play hockey? most of these kids will not move on beyond tier 3, that is my point...

Crash,

You definitely have drank too much of the kool aid.

Either Alexandria or So MN Express would blow the Ice Hawks away. Fargo too for that matter.

It would be very difficult for ANY Ice Hawk player to make any of these teams.

Believe me, what is being written in the paper and said by these teams' coaches is very misleading. Very misleading. Like I said before, most NAHL players do not get D1 offers and end up playing D3. There are two players from Rochester Century who played this past year for a D3 school in the MIAC. T...

I still think the league and the coaches do these kids a disservice giving them strong hope they will play in college. And one coach has even said that NAHL is not a move up for an Ice Hawk but most of them would move up in a minute. Why would the coach tell them that? Hmmm...to maybe keep them on t...

but if you look at the track record of getting kids to play in college, what are the chances they play D1 or even D3? how many of these kids move up to the NAHL? and do well? what percent off each year's team goes to play at D3. Why couldn't they have just gone to play D3 right out of high school li...

Tier 3 and Ice Hawks

I really don't know why someone would play in this league? If you can't do well at least at the NAHL level, just go to school. the coaches and the league are doing these kids a disservice. Really, talk with some of the kids who play in the NAHL. The top players get interest by D1 schools but others ...

I think to say Lourdes lost because of bad goaltending is inaccurate. The first goal the LHS goalie was screened. The shot should have been blocked by the forward. The second shot was in close and difficult to stop and the third was knocked in by the LHS defenseman. So even though Mankato had 17 or ...

Those uncommitted

Arigoni is the only one on the original post that is in his final year of juniors. I suspect the others are waiting to see what their best "offers" are. USHL players generally are signed in the first half of the hockey season, and NAHL players in the last half of the season eg Jan through ...

NHL CSS hasn't had enough time to see the player in the past few months in question to place them (or not) in the A, B or C classification .

being on the list is more about their potential, how the NHL CSS sees then in the next three to five years or more. so yes, some are not COMPLETE players but they all are very good, some with more potential than others. Usually, the A players are drafted however. I said usually.

coaches should really be looking out for the best for the kid. if the kid looks at his options seriously and decides to go the the ushl or other junior league, support him. get over it. it's not easy for the kid, his parents, etc. support them.

they do not do any testing for either the watch list or the rankings. it's based upon observation and height and weight and even some players they do not have official height and weight. to say these players do not have good skills is not accurate. the biggest thing they look at in putting players o...

the A COULD go in the early rounds but obviously there is no guarantee. The list will likely be out this Thursday. Just because NHL CSS says they are an A player (to watch) doesn't mean any NHL team will have an interest.

USHL vs NAHL vs NDTP U18 team

I know that the NAHL is not as good as the USHL but the U18 Nat'l Development team played in the recent showcase and was 3-1 but most of their games were very competitive eg beat Topeka 3-1, beat Express 2-1, beat Texas 3-1 and lost to Fairbanks 3-2. Then they also played Chicago in the USHL and bea...
