Agreed that some younger players could possibly help GR. Still not sold on all the juniors moving up, and not completely sold on Skrbec and Kleinendorst. Both good players, but of the two, only Skrbec seems like a team guy. At any rate, all of the sophomores have a lot of growing up to do. There's p...

Who is in contention for the starting spot in nets??? Sid 8) My guess is that they will split time for the 1st half of the season until one seperates from the other. If either falters, don't discount the jv goalies who should be Larson, Foss and big kid from Maple Grove. I would expect Tabaka to se...

Skrbec from Grand Rapids is a great player and has a chance to make an impact on varsity next year. Kleinendorst and Schulte from GR could also make some kind of an impact next season. So which one of these guys are you? My first guess is Kleinendorst, son of the former great NHL player, Scot. :rol...

Im sorry but Aj Merrit is very over-rated. I dont know how he would do at forward, but I saw him in a tournament playing defense and I was not impressed especially after hearing all the select teams he is on and how he is a dominant force. Grand Rapids should be good, but I see him contributing to ...

With the new format, there are four regions and each region has 4 qualifiers for the 8 team state tourney. Personally, I'm not sure if it's fair or not the way it's set up, but it is what it is. Obviously, some regions will be stronger than others, but if you look at the way high school sections are...

North : Grand Rapids & Brainerd
South : White Bear Lake & Lakeville S.
East : Duluth East & Elk River
West : Eden Prairie & Bloomington Jefferson

This picks are providing no one gets upset in their district playoffs. Just an opinion based on who I've seen this season.

Minnesota is one of 2 states that does not participate with USA hockey and the Advanced 14 program. Bernie McBain did a nice job with his connections at the NTDP to bring a group of '92 birth year players out to Ann Arbor last summer. Whether or not the selection process seemed fair in everyone's ey...

Who knows with this team. Now I hear that they'll be missing one of their centers. Pat Moore was in a car accident with his dad last night. Nothing major from what I hear, but banged up enough to be pretty sore. Combine that with a kid out with a bad back and things will be tough. If things go like ...

Good matchup. Bemidji outplayed GR for 2 periods. GR hit a crossbar and Bemidji tender made great save in the closing seconds. Bemidji deserved it. GR reverted back to their old ways, both playing and coaching. Tried to leave it up to just a few GR players to pull it out, and as we all know, that do...

Lake South is a decent team, but shouldn't be ranked any higher than where they are. If they should, than GR should based on shootout loss to GR. A few real good players and a great tender. We'll see if that carries them through the regions.

GR seems to be picking it up after poor showing in Virginia last Thursday. Maybe shook the pride of the orange and black a little. Consistent, well played hockey the last two against one weak(Eveleth) and one strong(Hermantown). Should be another up and down the ice sort of game. I expect good goalt...

4-2 GR. Well played game on both sides. GR looked good again and played a full game. Reffing was questionable again, but the boys were able to overcome. Held off a rally late in the 3rd and survived a 6 on 3 for the last 1:40 of regulation. Tied at 1 after 2 periods, it was a pick em sort of game an...

If GR plays anywhere close to this past weekend, 7-2 winners. If they let down, somewhere in the 4-2 3-2 range either way. Have always had a tough time in Virginia. I told you. GR let down and there's your 3-2 final. Virginia wanted it more and showed they have some talent. Look out for them come d...

Bantam A's. What's Hibbing's district record? I think they're a longshot for the #2 slot. Outside looking in is Falls, and way on the outside is Eveleth.
