Re: MSHSL - A Teams by Section ?

Teams by Sections : 1A- 6 , 2A- 7 , 3A- 7 , 4A- 7 , 5A- 8 , 6A- 6 , 7A- 8 , 8A- 7 * I have a question as-to why would the MSHSL add Chisago Lakes Area (this year A) to Section 7A , making that section into 8 teams instead of adding them to section 6A who only has 6 Teams. Section 6A is alot closer ...

[/quote] Its an impossible task to judge solely by stats. There are so many variables. Easy or difficult competition, number of quality players on a team, defense or forward, team style of play, etc. Essentially it comes down to beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Thankfully in MSHSL there are ...

I've noticed that the KRACH rankings closely resemble the LPH poll (which is the only one that uses eyewitness observation and common sense). But the QRF is really whacked. The formula for success in QRF seems to be: it doesn't matter if you win or lose, just keep the losses close, and when you win...

They do? What about all of the teams that are labled as Independents? MSHSL requires Confer. Placement? I would think that Conferences are independent of the MSHSL, they have the power to accept or reject any team. I agree they were orginally set-up so that teams in a given area or section would be...

we already do "combo" teams, (North Metro, Grand Rapids/Greenway, Duluth, Proctor/Hermantown, Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, Brainerd/Little Falls ect... and those are all AA schools) . Just a note: These would be All A Schools in not combined - Greenway,Proctor,Hermantown,Esko,Carlton,Brainerd,Li...

It would be nice to see the new QRF ratings now that most of the Holiday Tourneys are all over, lots of changes should happen. Any idea when this will occur?

I think silver Bay will start creeping in the A polls soon. They tied Duluth and beat Cloquet last week. A 1 BLAKE 2 Warroad 3 Roseau 4 Breck 5 Silver Bay Record 7-1-1 6 Crookston/Red Lake 7 Mankato West 8 Mound Westonka 9 South St. Paul 10 Northfield This is an accurate placement #5 for Silver Bay...

This includes Shakopee, Superior, Duluth (Tied - S.B up 2-0 in 3rd) and now Cloquet (who scored with 40 sec. left). Not just luck. A Very Good Team. Great Goalie in Lexi Warnecke and Defensiv...

As to the thread's original question, I think the reasons why AA gets more publicity are: 1. They are bigger schools, and there are more of them, so they naturally have bigger followings. 2. Any A-sized school can choose to move up to AA, and some of the better ones (like Hill-Murray, BSM and Holy ...

Not sure if this is the answer, but my guess is how QRF assesses game results based not only on wins and losses, but scoring differential. I believe a couple of blowout wins or losses or an overall trend of close games, can affect the ranking to a significant degree under this model, as can scoring...

The QRF rankings have nothing to do with the section rankings. I would guess many coaches have never even heard of or know about the QRF. They rank teams based on wins/losses, strength of schedule, head to head competition and common opponents. I would guess in most sections the majority of the tea...
