Roth - Bethune - Sylvester for Warroad in 2014.
Were huge in both games against rival Roseau, and again vs eventual state champion EGF in a 2 OT Section Championship game.

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A
And while the three teams in 8A that you mentioned might keep scores respectable most of the time the amount that they win 8AA is probably limited to 1-2 times a decade between the 3 of them. The best chance they had this decade was 13-15 EGF or Warroad. But those were far from guaranteed. 13-14 wa...

Re: 7A - Thoughts
6-0 Warroad after 2. Time to head home, Blue Devils look terrible. If they don’t get things fixed, Denfeld is going to skate circles around them next week. Any thoughts as to why the Virginia coach started the struggling goalie again? Looks like he got pulled again tonight. Would have thought the j...

Must be a different situation than what I had in mind. What I was wondering about was the potential retirement of a long time coach that’s highly regarded by all. I’ve since confirmed no movement there. Yeah, the rumored situation in question involves a coach who has not been in his current positio...

Re: 2018 elite league
.....half of the players on those rosters are for reasons other than superior talent. Well, as a fan of CEC you have a coach who knows how to play that system to perfection. In fact, he does not hesitate to let people know he has the ability to impact their player's off season options if they cross...

I watched Warroad play Grand Rapids this weekend and was surprised at how much they dominated play. I know Grand Rapids has struggled early this year so I can't say if it was Warroad playing strong, or GR being down that much. Final shots were around 45-10 in Warroad's favor. The GR goalie came up w...

MJHL  Gotta pulse ? Wanna pay, er, play ? But that's more than in the past anyway. Well a MJHL team won the RBC last year so hardly a crap league. As for pay there is no cost to play or billet so not sure where the attitude is coming from. You must mean Manitoba. I was thinking the defunct Mi...

No. Nor are there ever any scouts, etc. there. Parents and players. Period. As to why Warroad, see my other post. Actually, the MJHL has had scouts at this game in the past few years. Having said that, it is nothing like the CCM series. It is a less serious affair where guys are more or less having...

I am pretty sure there is a Section 8 All-Star game in Warroad every spring. Is it televised. An why in Warroad? No. Nor are there ever any scouts, etc. there. Parents and players. Period. I don't think it is so much a lack of developing goalies in Minnesota as it is a bias against high school hockey overall. In my opinion, scouting has gotten lazy, focusing almost exclusively on the Elite League and the Advanced 15-17 programs. If a kid does not play in one of those two, he is likely...

I'm not sure why everyone is so high on Denfeld. Ranier is right, Denfeld has very little coming back. Also Alander may be a good goalie but he had a good team in front of him last year. I'd like to think Greenway can get the #3 seed but aside from their game against Hibbing in the Sectionals, they...

I have been somewhat perplexed of how to judge Alander and Stej, with these two guys in front of them during so many shifts of the Elite season. Not to mention the other talented team North Dmen. How much GAA would suffer with less talent in front of them? [/b] You won't have to wonder for long.......

My son did the R4 this year as a senior. I think it was very well run and there was a good number of scouts there. He was asked to meet with one NAHL team who invited him to camp, and was contacted a few days later by a USHL team who's scout had been at the combine, and was invited to their main cam...

It looks like Jared Bethune dropped off the list completely. He was ranked 101 in the mid season rankings but I don't see his name on this one. It would appear going to the WHL didn't work out this time, unless I'm just missing something. I overheard two scouts talking in Grand Rapids, and they fel...

Joe Burt if on varsity will be the #3 goalie. Stejskal and Holum will both be 10th graders next year and both will be in the mix to start. No way anyone bumps either of them from 1 and 2 goalies on varsity next year. Last time I checked both had a .920 or higher save percentage. Also, not sure wher...

Wow, lots of sour grapes on the Warroad end. The story I am hearing is a kid from Iowa scored both of Warroad's goals. Weird??? If you are addressing my comment, I am just stating what everyone actually at the game saw. TRF strategy was to crash the net hard, and in the process they picked up a cou...

What was controversial about the TRF goal? I read other people back home say the same thing. I'm just wondering. The official was the only one that saw the puck go in. No goal light, no conversation with the goal judge, no real player celebration from TRF and bewilderment from the Warroad players, ...

Warroad is pretty good at full strength. Some one from way up north could tell us, but I am guessing 5 games at full strength this year. You are correct Sir! First 5 games were basically with the full roster and none since. Injuries have taken a big toll on Warroad this year. How health are they no...
