David Beckham coming Stateside
If anybody is following this: is it worth it? The galaxy (I think) are going to pay him something like $250 million over 5 years to try and boost the popularity of the MLS. To me it seems like a financial disaster, but there is the outside chance that it might give the league increased legitimacy on a world stage.

Who Cares?????????
I won't care about professional soccer games until 2010. It will take WAY more than Beckham to get me interested in soccer here in the MLS.
So I don't care.
So I don't care.

Best thing possible happened. He is a big name, great player and will get interest in soccer where there previously was none. There was no way anyone like Ronaldo or Henry was coming over, so this is the best the US could get and it works out very well for Beckham. He was losing favor in Europe and gets to come to the US and be the centerpiece.

The attendance of games might go up, but you won't see young boys in the stands in awe and saying "I wanna be a professional soccer player!"There are going to be about 5,000+ 14-30 year old women in the stands going "OMG he is soooo hot!" He won't have enough effect to change soccer in the states. There are too many other sports or things to do and we won't ever see Hooligans stateside like they have over in Europe. I don't think there are any bigger rivalries in the world than the English Premier teams have.
