al vs far
AL vs Faribault could decide the final section seedings. Faribault playing 2 games in the past 3 days or AL not playing for nearly a week, i'm not sure what is worse. Should be very exciting.
I dont believe the 2-2 tie last time was a fluke, plus albert lea was the team who got a goal called off. It was very even the whole time.

Albert Lea pulls it out against Faribault 4-3.
Balanced scoring so it seems.
AL's goaltender Hanson is maturing (was probably really nervous).
Faribault put themselves in the box for the last 4 minutes or so...
But, really a big game and a big win for AL for the seedings.
WOWEEE !!!

PS---just watch the Falcons fans holler now !!!!!!!!!!!!

That would throw a wrench in things wouldn't it. Although, I wouldn't count on that happening Betty, AL is a much better team than they displayed at West earlier this season.Betty 99 wrote:So what happens with seedings if West beats Albert Lea for a second time on January 30th?
Tonights AL & Faribo match-up wasn't a very good game for either team. Neither team was very crisp, I was expecting a better game from both teams. Faribo managed 18 (8,3,7) shots to AL's 25 (5,7,13). At one point in the 2nd AL had a 3-1 lead, but Faribo seemed to pick up some steam with a shorthanded goal in the 2nd and they tied it up early in the 3rd. At times Faribo carried the play and other times AL carried the play. I think both teams can play better.
...and no "timely dislocation" of the net this time.
Since they're Big 9 teams maybe they'd look at the Big 9 record, which might not help either. I suppose common opponents like Owatonna, Winona and New Ulm would come into play somewhere.Twinnesota wrote:I'd like to know if West beat Owatonna...
If they lost, it would mean they have 10 losses...
AL vs. West should be another exciting game.
I only meant that the seedings are getting VERY interesting !

Prediction Faribault 7
Albert Lea 2
Correction Faribault 4
Albert Lea 2
We will have 3 legitimate goals waved off in Albert Lea.
AL 4Who would AL rather play Austin or Us in the section tourney?
Faribo 3
Any more questions?

I saw Blake play one of the weaker teams in the state. They won by a lot, but it never seemed like they were pouring it on, and it was never embarrassing to the opposition. They skated 3+ lines the whole game and were trying all different combinations on the special teams.
On the other hand, I've heard about Austin and Marshall HS in Western Minnesota running up scores (like the 16-2) on the likes of Luverne and Fulda, etc. What I wish is that when Austin and Marshall get to the state tournament Blake is there waiting for them, and they have absolutely no mercy. I bet they could score 20 on either of these teams, and it sounds like that's what's needed to teach them a lesson. It's too bad that Blake (Sec 4) will most likely play Breck (Sec 5) in the first round, instead of letting both of them work out on these southern Minnesota yahoos.

A. Despite being in the easiest section ever, Marshall won't make it to the state tournament. What I wish is that when Austin and Marshall get to the state tournament
B. Austin has a shot, but there's 3 teams lined up and ready to make them earn it.
I too would like to see the tables turned on those teams who think it's necessary to beat another team by 14 goals. Anything more than running time is just padding your stats...bottom feeders.

-Faribo recently lost to AL and West, how can they be ahead of both teams?Twinnesota wrote:My guess is the Section finishes as follows:
Austin 20-3-0
Faribault 14-10-1
Albert Lea 14-10-1
Mankato West 14-11-0

-Faribo and West split the season series and AL is 1-0-1 against Faribo.
My guess is:
1. Austin
2/3. AL
3/2. West
4. Faribo
The 2 and 3 are interchangeable, it will depend on who wins when West goes to AL on 1/30. Which happens to be the day before the seedings are released. You might be able to convince me Faribo is a 3 if Faribo gets a win over Austin and an AL win over West, otherwise they're the 4.
