Pretty clean game.
AL only put 1 in the box all game...
Owatonna threw a couple of "not so nice" checks, and got penalties.
AL even ad a 5 on 3...didn't get the puck out of their own zone.
They were not on the same planet tonite for some reason.
With 5 minutes left in the game, Owatonna's #11 (best player) did not even go on the offensive.
The AL girls will snap out of it, but they all had a disappointing nite.

Very disappointing indeed. That's a pretty good Owatonna team, but not 4 goals better than AL. The girls were, like T said, somewhere else tonight. AL gave up 1 ppg and 2 shorties and stuggled to complete a pass.

If they play like that Thursday against Mayo it could get ugly.

bad game for AL but hopefully they were just getting it out of their system and will get back on track soon. The team played alright in the 1st period but after that they looked sluggish and got knocked around by a few blatant body checks. The shots were about 26-25. With AL having 26. The Owatonna goalie played solid, the AL goalie let in a few soft ones. Once they got off-track they couldn't get back on, it happens once in a while. They have been playing very good hockey and hopefully it won't discourage them.

The AL skaters and the team allowed too many breakaways, one -timers, and walk in shots, and did not produce more than a few quality shot of their own...the Owatonna goalie was just not that solid.

Head to head action:
West 1-0 vs. AL 6-2 (West @ AL 1/30)
AL 1-0-1 vs. Faribo 4-3 & 2-2
Faribo 1-1 vs. West 4-2 & 1-3
Austin 5-0 vs. the field (Faribo @ Austin 1/25)

I like the QRF order better  It should be noted too that the QRF doesn't include games from 1/23. AL lost and both Faribo and West won.
I think Austin pretty much has the #1 locked up. The rankings in both tell a different story than the head to head games.

ok RSI im sorry if i misunderstood your posts...you are very supportive of the program most of the time and have been posting in favor of Austin a lot

i just felt that after the blowout game you had been wishing doom upon them...it was a bad thing to do to such a weaker, younger team but i felt you took it too far...once again i apologize

No problem, apology accepted. In my head I know what I'm trying to say but when it's read it's obviously intrepreted completely different. That's one of the challenges with this board and email. Except for ZAMBONI it is not my intention to bash any team or player(s) on this board.

Those blow-outs games are a no-win situation, it's bad for both teams. I read what was posted and I agreed with some but disagreed with others and I didn't think any follow-up posts were necessary, that horse was already dead. Personally, once the score is out of control, I don't think any of the top players should touch the ice and they certainly shouldn't be shooting. On the other side I don't know if you should tell the younger, less experienced girls they can't shoot or score either. It's tough.

Moving forward...

Hey you of little faith, how about that Faribo 4-1W over New Ulm? Not much has been posted about that.

there has been alot of talk on this thread of who is 2nd,3rd or 4th seed but i'm sorry it just doesn't matter. Faribault skated there 1st line against austins 2nd all night long and the end result Austin 4 faribault 3. Austin is undefeated in 1A this year because as faribault found out Austins 2nd line is good as faribaults 1st and AUSTINS 1st LINE IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE"S IN THIS SECTION. That's why we haven't had a loss in 1A this year and it's also why you won't win in sections no matter where you're seeded. As Austin demonstrated tonight we only have to play good enough to WIN and wev'e BEAT YOU ALL . SORRY GIRLS BUT THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR. ANY QUESTIONS ??????

Agreed, but like I said before, Austin will likely not get past the first round of the State Tourney (although I sincerely hope they do). Sorry...ANY QUESTIONS? :)

I am LMAO RSI. Bridger left the silliest post I have read in a long time. RSI stated it correctly.
I wonder if Bridger is really from Austin. I think they are from another town trying to motivate their team. Their team system must be a failure.

Anyone, with just a little bit of hockey knowlege, realizes that sections are a brand new season, and 2-3 goal differences in previous hockey games are nothing.

I remember last year the big AL upset of MW.
or 3 years ago the Austin(number 7 seed) upsetting New ulm( #1 seed).

Let the new season begin.

first off i have seen all of the austin games at home this year... having stated that i have to say that although austin thinks they are the top and trust me they know and think thay are ... Austin is very beatable.. to me it all lies on three things:
1. Defense needs to be better.... there defense is there biggest weakness.. last nigh they gave fairbault a chance to get back in the game.. will end up beating them in the long run..
2. Snyder has to play huge in any tight game.. can't give up easy breakaway goals.. There will be many times when she is going to see breakaways... was up to the cahllenge last night..
3. Power play... Against tougher teams they need to be able to capitalize on this.. They seem to be to rushed aainst the tougher teams.. When u get a powerplay u need quality shots.. they have the power to be a bigger factor in this but has been on the down low lately..

in all i do think that austin will go to state, barring any mental errors against any of these teams.. would have been nice if austin would have played some tougher competition though.. mayo and blaine just don't cut it to be considered a top team..

C'mon :o THAT might be the silliest thing I've read in a long time.

Line up the sacrificial lambs...Despite Austin's obvious superiority and ALL of the other teams bleak future, I'm pretty sure the AL girls are gearing up for a big game at home against West on Tuesday. That game against West is the only thing that matters right now.

I truly hope all the Austin players, fans and coaches are enjoying their season's successes.

p.s. can somebody get me address information, I want to send out graduation gifts to AHS Class of '07

whoa there, Bridger. careful. don't get too high...austin is beatable. that game last night could have gone either way at one point. i distinctly remember a crossbar shot by a Faribault defense with only a couple minutes left. one inch lower and....

anyway, the game last night was good. it was a lot of fun to watch. the refs did have a problem with seeing cheap shots (on both sides) and with calling pretty absurd penalties, but that's bound to happen sometimes.

jetjock is right about sections being a new season. go pack.

the one thing that scares me about austin is that if they somehow beat mayo, their ego will be even bigger..

what are the tiebreakers for the big nine if austin beats mayo??

Why? A home game against Mankato E or Waseca in sections. Seed 2 plays 3.

Seed 2 plays 3, correct, assuming that seed 2 beats seed 7 and seed 3 beats seed 6...

I guess RSI is saying that AL would rather have a 2 or 3 seed than a 4 and getting potentially only one game before facing those dreaded packers.

That's AL's next game, against West. I was attempting, ineffectively, to go to the cliche card, 1 game at a time.

Which brings up an interesting question, what will the seeds look like? I hear Austin might get the #1, but where do they fall after that?
