The Pioneer Press has Farmington in there but no Blake. Hmmmmm....I know who I would take if they were to play each other.

I'd have to say that is the one missing for sure. The rest will have to play out. Remember, "There can be only one", and Edina, AHA, and BSM, are all our of the sam section.

Of course you meant Edina, EP and BSM. Don't forget Wayzeta...

If you are going to consider Wayzata - which by all means you should - then you also can't forget about Hopkins and Minnetonka. They have both recently beat Wayzata by 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. This section is unbelievably tough.

you are correct, in fact they may have to seed Hopkins higher than Wayzeta because of that but my guess is the 4 I mentioned will be there in the semis.

Of course... You could have 5 top 20 teams all from the same section, and 3 in the top 5. Amazing! So after that section is done, who will beat the winner in state?

First up for the section 6 winner would be section 7 which should be CEC, GRG or FL.

Roseville is the best bet.

I would argue that there are some teams that are missing from this list that would deserve consideration. Also, some would argue that the A teams on here may be skewed a bit by SOS issues...

Metro area top 10
Last update: November 13, 2007 – 8:52 PM

METRO AREA TOP 10
1 Eden Prairie: Looking to start another long winning streak.

2 Blake: Class 1A champs look strong again with plenty of speed and defense.

3 Stillwater: Defending Class 2A champion back for more.

4 Benilde-St. Margaret's: Highly skilled team finished third in Class 2A last season.

5 Roseville: Always dangerous team is hoping for third consecutive state tournament berth.

6 Blaine: If goaltending continues to be a strength, the Bengals will be tough.

7 Centennial: Seven forwards return from a team that lost to Stillwater in section final.

8 Breck: Strong senior group is looking to make noise in Class 1A.

9 Holy Angels: Returns top three scorers and four of five top defenders.

10 Edina: Defeated both state champs during last year's regular season.

A pretty good ranking I think, but some of the records aren't up to date or appear wrong. Edina is 6-2-1 I believe and CDH is 4-1-3 with the Hastings loss.

Also, Hopkins is 9-1-0 and Roseville is 8-1-0, the ties shown were actually overtime tournament wins but are recognized as ties by the MSHSL.

If they didn't play the standard 8 minute OT, it is recognized as a tie.
