Post by TTpuckster »

Well,

They have already had a close one with Warroad.
They have been getting outshot in all of their games agaist War, TRF and EGF but managed to beat TRF and EGF.

Goalie must be pretty good.

Big game next Thursday at EGF.

Should be a good one!!!!!!!

This 1-0 win over TRF isn't really that big of a deal to me. I was at the game and in my opinion neither of these teams are going to be able to win 3 games in a row in sections. Let's say TRF beats EGF, LOW and DL, and gets the #2 seed. I dont think they will be able to beat LOW, EGF and Warroad in EGF come section time. And lets say Crookston gets the #4 seed...they are not going to be able to beat Park Rapids, Warroad and TRF/EGF. Just my opinion...as much as I hate saying it, Warroad should be heading to state again. It was nice seeing TRF make it last year and it would be nice seeing someone new this year, but I just dont seeing it happening.

Overconfidence in pirateville?
Not a chance.

-No state tournament appearances in School history
-No state tourney appearances at any level of their youth
-.500 or sub .500 season after season.
-Didn't get a win until the last days of 2006.
-identified as "second teir" program their whole lives
-play in a rink many nominated as "one of the worst"
-outshot, even in victory.
-second fiddle to the King of Crookston..Hoops

What makes the "fleet" grow is they are good between the ears.

How many teams do you suppose could get up off the canvass the way they have judging by how December went?

Did anybody else who attended this game see how many offsides, icing and missed penalty calls there were???? That was quite possibly the worst Ref job I have ever witnessed. Even when they did call penalties, they were calling phantom penalties, and missing the "actual" penalties. Very dissappointed by the game, Refs were poor, and both teams played poorly. One just got a lucky bounce goal before the other.

Yeah, the refs were brutal...but it didn't effect the outcome of the game. Neither powerplay was doing anything. I don't think either team should've won, but crookston played with more heart.

Shanty I may be wrong but I believe that CROX were state champions in 1983 for Pee-Wee "A's" so not have they only been to state they won the whole thing. My source is Minnesotahockey.org

Your source is a 100% accurate.

However:
-No state tourney appearances for the High School Program
-No state tourney appearances for this season's Pirate team at any level of their youth

If you didn't know, an enormous part of that '83 PeeWee A state championship team is now the man behind the Pirate Bench. He had some help from French, Kreibech, Habstritt, Thygeson, Andringa's, Hendrickson to name a few. And what would be a good Crookston team of that era without a Frenchmen from Gentilly, his name was Demarias.

No, his elder, Chris.

Shane's cohorts were less in numbers and talent, no championships for that group.
