Best unknown players

Best unknown player has to be Audrey Hanmer of Forest Lake. she is just a 8th grader and is very good at D. also from forest lake is junior D Briana Gray. she has a very powerful shot and is very good at her position. but there are many other talented girls who are very good.

IMO there are many here in Roch. From Century, sophomore goalie Liz Maidl, it's nothing for her to face over 70 shots per game, but usually holds the opponent to single digit scoring. From Mayo, besides the knowns, like senior F Allie Harwood, Katie Psimos & Britt Erikson, there is jr. F Stevie Fiek & I believe they will see great things from fr f Mary Grace Fletcher. Also, on Mayo are stong D from srs. Nicki Anderson, Sara Miller & jr. Nara Higano. On the JM/Lourdes team we see strong play from sr. f Gretchen Leyendecker, jr. d Alicia Mogen & fr. g. Michelle Bonapace.

FWIW any goalie IS AMAZING that faces 750+ shots a season, let alone that many in half a season, and posts a nearly 90% sv %!!!

I have to agree with UWhockey88-Jenna Travis-10th grade defense from Centennial.

She scored the game winning goal against Coon Rapids to enable Centennial to win the Northwest Suburban Conference.

Unfortunetely for her there are 4 senior defenders on the Centennial team-one with 4 years experience and 3 with 3 years experience.

This is one to watch in the next couple of years!

Kari Hunter, the junior goalie for the young and hopelessly out-gunned Bloomington Kennedy team will never be at the top of the W-L list, but she may face the most shots of anyone this season. She opened some eyes with a 66 save shutout earlier this year, and routinely faces 40 shots a game.

Hunter does it again as Kennedy upsets the Novas in the section 5AA play-in 2-1 in 2 OT. 49 saves.

I hope the goalie from Kennedy stays there. She reminds me of a great goalie who played for a perennial cellar-dweller in the Lake Conference. She also faced 40+ shots per game. She was the show for this team. Then she was persuaded to transfer to a powerhouse in a neighboring conference to "get noticed." She rarely faced more than 12-15 shots per game and essentially became a footnote on a great team. She had 0 offers to play D1 hockey. Don't know if the Kennedy goalie has college aspirations; if she does, she will get more noticed at Kennedy rather than at a so-called big name HS team.

That happens more than people think where a good player will leave their so so team and then is just a number on a good team.
Hunter (BL goalie) also had a team mate who left this last year and she is just a footnote this year too. You use to hear about her all the time but now not much anymore. Is the goalie you are refering to, end up on Ch team.

Getting noticed is great as long as the season included quality practices and coaching where skills are developed to play at the higher levels. We need to remember that there are great players who are humble and team-oriented enough to be a "footnote" on a great team where they are challenged and growing through quality practices and coaching than be the "show" where their development may be limited. These kids are smart enough to know that only the very top tier get D1 noticed through their high school season and that the other off season opportunities--camps and summer teams--will require them to perform well in a competitive field.

Not sure if she moved or x-fered, but I remember being impressed when I saw her play for Prior Lake last year. Saw her share of pucks there too.

Hunter trf to BK and Hartman trf to Edina.
PL got a new coach, not sure if that was the reason but it is too bad they did not give him an oppertunity.
He has done well with a young squad.

I know Becca from a personal status and she is a really good goaltender and person all around. her team isnt very strong so it is sometimes hard for them and her to keep the score close, but she pulls it off. she is an excelent hockey player, and i agree that she needs more publicity and exposure.
