Section 1A 2006-7
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
I thought it was really odd that Austin's entire offensive strategy centered around having a suck-hole camped out between the center red line and Farmington's blue line when the puck was in the Austin end. It was #5 and #22, the two centers I believe. I've never really seen anything like it (even Allie Thunstrom didn't stray that far out of the defensive end), and on at least two of the Farmington goals Austin could have used them to help in the defensive end. Have they been doing this all year, or is it new for the state tournament?
The more Class A teams I see, the more clear it is that Blake is going to destroy everyone they meet in this tournament. Both Blake and Breck really have to think hard about moving up to Class AA after this season.
Oh and by the way, penalties had no influence on the game--I don't even remember thinking about it at the time. The result would have been the same no matter what. The Austin fans seemed pretty classy--let the Farmington fans be the ones to bitch at the refs the entire game--they're going to anyway.

You sound bitter, your daughter's team didn't qualify for the Tourney huh...if only they were in Section 1A.gopher9 wrote:I was at the game. I dont know what Austins record was I never followed them. Just read the rediculous post. They were VERY UNIMPRESSIVE! Maybe they just had a bad game or an extremely weak section.

BTW, it's r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s. Now leave us 1A fans alone and go back to your 5AA thread and get the O/E or recruiting discussion going again. I'm sure that dead horse could use a couple more kicks.
For the record: Austin has 0 open enrollment players on their roster.

RSI. Don't be so quick to point your finger at others about open enrollment when the Albert Lea boys team had a Austin senior come and play for them about 2 years ago. The Austin senior still lived in Austin and went to school in Albert Lea.
Also, I'am not banned from no arena and I don't know who put that crazy idea in your twisted head. I don't spend much time there anymore because I don't have anything invested or any special reason to.

I shouldn't have said this. Anything can happen in hockey game. And I saw Hibbing at the Kaposia and I thought they were a very good team. And obviously since Alex went to overtime with them they must be a pretty good team also. But for those of you who haven't seen them yet, wait 'til you get a load of Blake....Blake is going to destroy everyone they meet in this tournament...
ZAMBONI,
This is the girl's forum for a reason. I don't believe that Ellingson coming over here had anything to do with any girls programs.
If you don't go to the rink, how can you continually come on this website and make absurd accusations and statements about AL hockey. People like you are the ones who wreck things like this.
You should really consider getting out to the rink and watch some hockey before you come on here and make idiotic and false remarks. Just a suggestion...

What does that OE of the Austin boy have to do with girls hockey?ZAMBONI wrote:RSI. Check the title of this forum...
I haven't seen you at the arena lately either...
Did you get banned or something?

GOLFREAK AND TWINNESOTA. OK, how about this transfer. Amy Gackstetter, tell me the story on this one. She had to play b-bantams last year because she was going to school in a small town ( ? wells ) and now she played with the high school team this year as an open enrollment or did her family move to Albert Lea? SPEAK UP.

That young lady grew up playing hockey with the AL girls team.
U12, U14, etc...
She is NOT a ringer. Her school does not have a team.
You do not have to be so angry, Zam...

NO ANGER HERE, just want the truth to come forward and don't sugar coat things. I'am here to keep the Albert Lea people honest. " GOOD DAY "
She did'nt have a choice because the team would'nt take her if she stayed in the small town. I'm not sure but I think the team would of had to count the wells school 10th, 11th and 12th grades and that was the issue here? There was some goofy reason she played b-bantams last year. SPEAK UP.

I would assume that the young lady played bantams because she could not enroll in AL AND drive herself to school everyday...you would need to get that info from someone else. AND is a conjunction here, meaning both.
I also assume she wanted to PLAY WITH HER FRIENDS this year, as soon as she could drive, and that the bantams kept her sharper than not playing.
I might agree that you have a point if both schools had hockey programs, but that is not the case.
You do not appear to understand.
Respectfully yours,
T
PS--you'd have to ask the AL boys coach about QE...I do not believe he was recruited. He left his home town because he wanted to get to state.

state tournament on tv.
For the Albert Lea area, charter cable #98. This will also be for the boys.
No, I barely read your posts the way it is...You read my post for the proper spelling, didn't you RSI?

ZAMBONI, Ask your wife to help you with reading comprehension. My post wasn't about pointing fingers at schools/people who have issues with O/E. Honestly, O/E doesn't matter to me. It's not that I don't have an opinion on O/E, it's that I just don't care.RSI. Don't be so quick to point your finger at others about open enrollment when the Albert Lea boys team had a Austin senior come and play for them about 2 years ago.
I'm just sick and tired of other people coming around to knock Section 1A as a weak section. WE GET IT, WE KNOW WE'RE NOT THE STRONGEST SECTION IN THE STATE...BUT, AT LEAST NOT WE'RE 3A.

Thank god you're here to keep us honest, but who's keeping you honest? You seem to just make most of it up as you go...ZAMBONI wrote:I'am here to keep the Albert Lea people honest.

Goofy reason? Maybe it was because she didn't make the "A" bantam team???

It was because she wanted to play hockey with her friends, who are older than the 8th and 9th graders on the varsity. She has been playing hockey with those friends since she was little....That's why.RSI wrote:Thank god you're here to keep us honest, but who's keeping you honest? Whatever the reason, I think it's irrelevant. It's just a good thing she stayed involved with the game.Twinnesota wrote:It was because she wanted to play hockey with her friends, who are older than the 8th and 9th graders on the varsity.
