That was such a good game it was better then the scoreboard said, shots were dead even at 32 a piece and there were huge hits up and down the ice the whole game. I liked the brawl at the end of the 1st period too, very entertaining, fun, and physical game both ways. Helluva season by New Prague and Orono.
I agree that the score of this one doesn't tell the story real well. It was a great game to watch. Orono did a great job of keeping NP to the outside and not giving up many odd man rushes. NP did a nice job of getting shots from the point through traffic, they just couldn't get enough past. I really wanted NP to get the equalizer in the 3rd when it was 2-1. They did a good job of applying pressure, but that's kind of what led to the 2 on 1 that resulted in Orono's 3rd goal. That was a HUGE goal as you knew it was going to be tough to get 2 past the Orono goalie in 7 mins.
That is a great arena for that game. The atmosphere was fantastic. I had goosebumps just watching.
Thanks again to both teams for a great game.

Orono had the better/more experienced team this year. Next year , NP will compete well in the Missota and will play against Orono for the Sect. Championship , I see the beginning of a good rivalry despite the fact that New Prague has never beaten Orono in a big game previously. Lets hope both teams stay intact.

^Biggame101...sorry but I don't think you exactly know what you are talking about. How was Orono more expierienced when New Prague had 13 seniors? And I don't think New Prague will be better next year. They only have 3 good juniors right now that will be seniors next year and one is a goalie. With many good sophmores, I'm thinking in 2 years NP will be as good as they were this year.
New Prague does have four of its top six scorers back (Lapic, Ambroz, Adams and Feuk), but yes, they do lose 13 seniors, including their leading scorer (Witty) and their goalie (B. Palma) along with few others with three years of varsity experience. I see potential for next year, but it will be a team that will need to develop some young players and have some returning players step up.

NP better NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!
Hockeystud, perhaps you should look at which players make a difference on a team. More experienced does not necessarily imply they are seniors. Every team has a leading scorer based on how that team runs it's lines. Some good teams have a leading scorer with 50 pts., some with 25pts. The good teams win games, not necessarily win with stats. The difference makers on the NP team were clearly the underclassmen and this experience will be helpful next year. Dont want to diminish the seniors contributions, but obviously couldn't get it done this year. Next year, NP brings alot of "experience" in a big game which is invaluable. The following year may be even better, however only if NP can do well next year which in my humble opinion, they will.

A or AA for NP ?
New Prague may be trying to petition for "A" status as their "AA" status was due to inclusion of Montgomery/Lonsdale players. Not sure how many players are from ML but it could keep them from reaching the "Biggame" in the immediate future. I agree , so much for any rivalries with Orono or any other previous Section 6 teams.
As i posted in another thread, New Prague was set to drop M-L two years ago, but once it was learned that it wouldn't move them up to AA, the MSHSL got involved and New Prague allowed them to stay for two more years, for the sake of the three kid who were in teh program at the time. There was only one ML player on the team this year and he is a senior. The league is aware New Prague is dropping the pairing and according to the school officials I spoke with, they will be reassigned to Class A once all the paperwork is settled.

Per the mshsl website enrollment #s, Richfield is #64 with 1218 students. Richfield is Class A, so the assumption is that there are other co-ops that move ahead of them. New Prague at only 1053 is safely within the Class A ranks... for at least two more years.
Don't sweat the small stuff.

so i got a question since new prague is now sec 2 AA are we going to try to fight it because we are dropping montgomery/londsdale i just dont think its fair cuz the next 2 yrs well have a decent team if no one leaves and our chances of state are slim to none in 2aa i think that MSHSL needs to reconsider and we should bring this to their attention
NOTE LPH says new prague ML coop is in 2aa that is where i got my info
