Holy Angels is susposed to be a top contender this year.....right?????
They didn't lose to Holy Trinity of St. Peter's Heavenly Grace. They lost two one goal games to two good teams. The sky is not falling. This is not overly surprising.
It's been said many times on this "bored" results from December really don't mean jack....the season is a marathon not a sprint...not every team goes undefeated when was the last time that happened meaning no losses or ties and it all comes down to late February to get an "invite" to the Big Dance. Lots of cliques..all are true. Zamman said it best these are Boys at least that's what the trophy says some as young as 14 on some teams we tend to forget that sometimes.

Take a look at the schedule before you make a stupid comment like this. The Scwan Cup is probably tougher then the state tourny, they have Hill, Mtka, Stillwater and the east coast trip coming up.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up. You are totally clueless in what you say. You know nothing about the school, team, coach or anything else about Minnesota High School hockey. For the last time AHA does not recruit, been investigated and proved it does not happen.
As far as this year goes, AHA has played three games, three different goalies and they have a lot of under-classmen on the team. Why is it that they can't lose a couple of games? I am sure over the years that all the schools in this state, Edina, Jefferson, East, Moorhead, Centennial even Richfield have lost a couple of games. They have all been good or even great teams. Can't AHA rebuild the program once in ten years. So they lost a couple of games. No one is making excuses, they played the games tight.
When they played Rosemount it was AHA's first game and Rosemount's fifth. AHA was down 6 - 2 in the third period and almost pulled off the comeback. The game was a physical game and Rosemount attacked and played great. I now I was there. AHA's goalie played with a broken foot, maybe he should not have but it is over and done with.
In the second game they started their JV goalie and he did a great job. AHA won that game easily.
In the game on Friday against Wayzata, AHA played Webb in his first game of the year. Wayzata played fantastic, while AHA was passing real well. When they had their opportunities to shoot, they passed and missed the shot. They will learn as they go. In the first period Wayzata outshot AHA 12 -3, but the score was tied. In the second AHA came out and out-shot Wayzata 8 - 2 and the score was 2 - 1 for AHA. In the third AHA out-shot Wayzata 14 - 8, but Webb got called for a penalty and Wayzata capitalized on the mistake and scored the winner. It was a good game, except for the first period. I enjoyed this one.
Next and the most important point in this long post, why does AHA have to win every game? Why put the heavy burden on these BOYS? they are the ones winning and losing, not me or anyone else that posts on this board. I am a fan, probably there biggest supporter and I will support them win or lose. No one has the right to come on this board and make pointless attacks about the way they play or make some stupid remark about recruiting.
wow, I make a sarcastic comment and you go on a rant like that claiming I know nothing? you need to relax and grow up
as far as the "recruitment" angle...all the work has been done in the years past, the school recruits itself by now. The good coaching, the successful hockey team, the advancement of many players to good college programs....so you are "half" right..nothing illegal is being done...but no type of recruiting needs to be done anymore, it goes without saying. No different than Hill, BSM, or any of the other successful privates.
as for AHA, the team...They are very skilled, and will have a successful season when it is all said and done. They have a daunting road through sections with Edina, Burnsville and Jefferson, but anything can happen.
No question the school and program have been very successful over the years. They truly have one of Minnesota's best hockey programs and everyone involved should be proud of it. But I do argree, that to say they don't recruit is a bit naive. All private schools recruit in one fashion or another. They have to. They don't have any defined geographic boundries that feed the system. They don't just recruit athletes, they have to recruit students! Just because a coach doesn't recruit, doesn't mean that it isn't happening by other supporters of the school. No need to get all worked up over it, as long as it is done within the MSHSL guidelines all should be good.
And as far as this year goes, I'm sure AHA will do just fine. They are probably going to have a tough time in sections with Edina, but who isn't? My guess is they will finish @ a very respectable 20-5 and who knows, maybe this year they will be able to pull off the upset and get to state instead of being the ones to be upset again!

Take a look at the schedule before you make a stupid comment like this. The Scwan Cup is probably tougher then the state tourny, they have Hill, Mtka, Stillwater and the east coast trip coming up.
Well i am pretty sure i was talking about the conference schedule, with Prior Lake, Farmington, Shakopee, Red Wing, New Prague, Northfield, Hutchinson, and others. That must make for a brutal stretch of games, oh man. Sorry ya-man but the Schwans Cup won't be able to take the place of the state tourney which this team WILL NOT make it to. Plus, the Schwans Cup is not tougher seeing that you only need to win three games in a row but to win state you need to win 6 in a row, a lot tougher. As for the other games, I will give you Hill and Tonka but thats 2 games against above average teams which leaves a lot of room for stat padding and running up the score in the rest, that is if they even have the talent to do that this year. But whatever helps you sleep at night I guess. Best of luck to AHA anyway but remember money cant win a state tourney!

I should have made myself clear. I was challenging you assesment that the tough schedule was behind them. Besides the previously mentioned non conference games I forgot to mention Shattuck. In the past AHA has not got there ranking from their conference schedule, nor should they. I agree they build-up stats with their conference, they can't do anything about that. But look at their record from the past years non-conference schedule. Their upcoming nc games will serve as a barometer. If they don't win their nonconf games they won't get the ranking. I know for a fact that Trebil would love to have games with Jefferson, Edina, etc...

Anyone believe in coincidences? I know I don't
Here is a real funny guy.....notice all the laughter.
Knowing nothing about the program and opening your mouth without knowing really shows you are smart..... I do not need to point out anymore of the obvious. One more thing, if you knew about the program you would know that they have not had too many transfers as juniors and seniors.... for the last 4 - 5 years.

I think most people knew Holy Angels was going to have a down year this year, after losing all the great players from last year and having an unresolved goalie situation. Holy Angels will probably do fine this year, but not great and then do fine later in the year.
As for the new transfer rule, if Holy Angels really needed older players, they could just transfer before the deadline of March 30th and be fine. So I don't think that has anything to do with this year's team and won't greatly affect any future teams because most kids come to Holy Angels when they are young.

Wow, that was one game, so congratulations, I guess you were expecting everyone to stop and bow down to almighty AHA because they beat Shattuck. But I guess thats all the firepower you have to throw at me so far this year because your team has done nothing, but don't give up on them yet, the conference play is just starting up! Plenty of time to beat up on some terrible teams.

It's best to find yourself early in the year, and get it rolling at the end.
Easy to say- harder to do.
Bruce LaRoque seems to have found the recipe for this.
shattuck like aha ha ha aint what they use to be. as for hockey man 11,while you are marking your calander put a star on the day you last got out of districts . then put a mark on the day you next play hutch, you might even win that one.

Hey now, I was not supporting AHA, you got the wrong guy! I am on your side on this one kickingwing. I do agree about the Hutchinsion game, should be a dandy. I am feeling a first round exit from sections this year for AHA or at most, semis. Maybe they will get some better recruits next year.
There is still quite a bit of hockey left this season, but I'm shocked at how far AHA's talent pool has dropped. When I have seen them play I was surprised but the lack of skilled kids they have. It was different not seeing kids being able to move the puck as I have seen them in the past. I'm wondering what impact that fact that they haven't made the state tourney the past few years & the section realignments are having. I believe in the past, AHA was appealing to families as they saw their chances of appearing in the state tournanent as a "lock" given the talent they had & the relative weak section they were in. With the move to a much stronger section & the fact they haven't been to state, I'm wondering if parents/kids are considering other options. I believe the longer they are away from "the show" the longer it will be for parents to send the their kids there. It will be interesting the next couple of years.
