Grant is a very good player. Speed, skill and determination are developing nicely. He needs to grow a little to be a top prospect. (IMO)

I think apollo was the best team in the tournement they jus let down the last gamee.

Best team at penalties is what I think he meant?
33 penalties for 75 minutes and a Game DQ in 180 minutes of hockey that weekend.


Rogers was the best in the ref’s whistle eye's with 7 penalties for 14 minutes.


Kind of funny how all the top team bracket won the final games?
Would it fair to say that the top was the tougher bracket?

I do agree that spanier has the determination but in high school hockey that will not be enough. IMO he is a good player but will never be able to achieve the status of a great player because he lacks size and strength.

Sure does, especially when you add strength and speed to it, which is what most of the top players have.
It's a point of separation, smaller players can rarely overcome.

3rd in the USHL in plus/minus for d-men.

7th in the USHL in points for d-men.

As far as I know, no top-end D-1 offers as of yet. Why? Size.

The Musketeers have Crandell listed at 5'10" and 190 pounds. Thats not exactly small. What is Ness? Heisenberg has him listed at 5'9" and 155 lbs. Also Chris Student is 5'9" and 160 lbs.

How did Carlisle from SCSU get recruited? He CANT be more then 5'8".

What about Rabouin (sp?) for SCSU or Swanson, who is about 170. Then there are guys in the NHL on the blueline who aren't that big as well, like Keith Ballard of Phoenix. They don't come much more solid in play or in toughness than that kid.

In general size is a factor, better big than small as long as all the skills are there, but there will always be a place in hockey for smaller guys (relatively speaking), who play tough, play bigger than they are and have good skills.

It makes you wonder alittle what could have been, if Matt had stayed and helped the Crusaders make it to state. I think he would have put them over the edge.
