Before this deteriorates too much further...
Mellin moved from 3rd to 2nd line, while Brent Olson moved up to 3rd line, in place of Lutzka. They both recorded assists last night, so they're not bad, but I'm a bit baffled as to why the person who is tied for 2nd on the team in goals was benched. Lutzka might be a one-way player and a floater, but he sure does what he does well. And this dropoff in effort must have been very sudden, since he had a hat trick vs. Moorhead, and single goals vs. Centennial and Anoka, then was gone by the 2nd game of the Schwan Cup. And you sure can't argue that the Hounds have been playing better without him, because it's obvious they're not.
As for the goalie situation, I'm hoping this was a one-time incident with Cooper. He opened up the door for Larson again though, just after I thought they'd finally found their goalie. Time will tell. And I'd still pin the majority of the blame for this loss on the astonishingly inefficient attack that outshot the opposition by 32 and still failed to put up more than 3 goals.
I agree about Rapids-East...it'll be huge. Right now, the Hounds need to focus on restoring order against Denfeld and getting ready for the Thunderhawks.

Karl,
Good post. East fans keep your heads on your shoulders. I was at the game and in the first Coops made a couple of outstanding saves. I was on the opposite end for the third and could'nt see any of the goals. Coops has played solid, has played some stiff competition for a kid who played bantams last year, he has also let in a couple of goals I'm sure he wishes he could have back. Larson is capable as well and has had some outstanding games in the past and led this team at the State tournament in Bantams.
The rest of the team needs to play together and crank there game and intensity up a notch. They are close to being an excellant team and everyone needs to stay away from any fingerpointing if this team is going to be successful. Lutzka was injured in the first period of the Hill Murry game and was not able to play against Holy Angels or Centennial. He tried to play against Elk River and looked like he was not full strength. When he didnt play they put Paulseth on that wing. I have seen Lutzka play for years and if he were physically ready I can't see anyone holding him back.
LETS GO GREYHOUNDS THIS IS A GREAT WEEK TO GET ON A ROLL!
Bob Lee and Frequent_MN_Flyer, I vote funny!

houndshockey11, welcome to the board. I think the score was enough of a baptism.
I realize that no Randolph does make an impact and hope he is doing better. That said, I think this goes to show that ER is still a team that can't be counted out in 7AA (as I have seen many doing already). That is all.
Btw, go Indians! (just for bobber)

thanks ERE, i'll be honest, i was a bit off on my prediction, though i sure felt that the boys wouldve woke up after the schwans cup and got back on track, unfortunately for east, Hennum played an amazing game making those 52 saves.
east needs to find a leader, a go-to-guy if you will, that can get the big goals that the hounds need, as of now there isn't someone like that.
one of the 3 on the johnson-tardy-boese line, i believe, should be that guy.
they all have great talent, though all of them are too generous with the puck (which is not bad all the time) they need to have the presense of mind when to shoot, and when to pass it off, i've seen it too many times this year when theyve had open shots and the puck gets passed away and the plays get broken up and that shouldnt be happening as much as it does.
i think that east has the talent to be in the top 5 in the state.
that 5-6-1 record could easily be 12-0-0, if they have someone who can consistantly bury the puck.
someone on that team needs to step up. not even just one player but a few of them.
they showed that they can compete with the best even though they havent been on the winning end everytime. any of the games (with the exception of the HM game where i felt that they were out played but east wasnt playing at the top of their game either) couldve gone either way.
In the past bunch of years, january and february (of the regular season) is when east gets hot, theres still over half the season left and i believe east is a major contender to win the section.
keep a lookout ERE, east may get a chance at revenge come february.
