I don't know how Buffalo "earned respect" by getting fully outshot, not scoring at all, and losing 3-0. What were you expecting? 8-0? 9-0? Worse?HOFam'r wrote: Buffalo earned some respect today from the Roso players/fans and I even saw Ness get walked one time...he then made up for it with a big hit...
Thanks Roso for a great time in our brief visit...it was a fun game and most Roseau fans were surprised by the Bison effort...especially Zitter who returned to his old form...now if we can get our forwards to get him a couple goals he can win just about any game...
No Chris- I was hoping that Buffalo could earn some respect in the hockey community...WayOutWest wrote:I don't know how Buffalo "earned respect" by getting fully outshot, not scoring at all, and losing 3-0. Would 2-0 be classified as a "Herculean effort", and a 1-0 loss be equated to the 1980 Olympic squad? This was the third consecutive three goal win by Roseau. It may theoretically, then, put Buffalo in the company of East Grand Forks and Warroad. (But, those teams did score against Roseau) Regardless, congratulations................I guess?
I'm just getting ready to hook up the dogsled and head back to Wisconsin. Beautiful morning with fresh snow coming down. I enjoyed the game. Impressed how Buffalo kept working and kept the game fun. Your goalie was amazing. I enjoyed sitting by your Bantam team watching their response to Roseau's play and some of the awesome stops the goalie was getting. Nice kids and a great time.HOFam'r wrote:Just unhooked the dogsled and 800 miles later we are back...Game was interesting and fun...Buffalo was outplayed but did get a few scoring chances today...many Roseau shots came on Power Play and you dont want them on it as they move the puck very well. Game was won on special teams as Roso Penalty Kill was equally impressive...It was a great venue and a great experoence for our kids...
Hockey is the most important thing in Roseau...period. Buffalo earned some respect today from the Roso players/fans and I even saw Ness get walked one time...he then made up for it with a big hit...

Our goalie can get in a zone where there is no one better...I have seen it few times out of him...thanks I had fun in Roseau and other than a few pompous fans most of the people were very nice.wishock wrote:I'm just getting ready to hook up the dogsled and head back to Wisconsin. Buffalo is currently ranked #51 on MinnHock. Not respectful enough? Where did you imagine they should be? Why?
HOF - Please don't confuse me with WOW. Saw the game, and would certainly agree with your assessment. Thought Zitur was amazing and he made some key saves. Thought Buffalo was good 5 on 5, and just wish we had seen more of even strength play. Roseau had more depth, and moved the puck with precision.HOFam'r wrote:No Chris- I was hoping that Buffalo could earn some respect in the hockey community...WayOutWest wrote:I don't know how Buffalo "earned respect" by getting fully outshot, not scoring at all, and losing 3-0. sorry for the confusion PG19...think I have good idea who WOW is...Puckguy19 wrote:HOF - Please don't confuse me with WOW. Saw the game, and would certainly agree with your assessment. I think Buffalo earned respect, and heard it from a number of people associated with the Roseau program. Not many times this year Roseau has had to play three period with intensity.
No, 2-0 would not be a Herculean effort, nor would 1-0 compare to the Miracle on Ice (as it will never be re-created). What the game was though, was a good effort by a good team, that has continually developed over the last ten to fifteen years. I think Buffalo established themselves as a top four team in Section 8, and will have to be reckoned with come February. No predictions, but there is a reason games are played. We've seen Holy Angels and CDH make quick exits the last few years. Roseau is without a doubt the favorite, but I wouldn't bet against an upset or two in the final four.
To the contrary, confusion abounds. You have no idea who I am HOF. I do not know you, personally.HOFam'r wrote:

Not sure anyone walked out of Memorial "chesty." In fact, I would say there was a measure of disappointment, at an opportunity lost. That's what usually happen when you give a good effort for three periods and come up short. The biggest difference in my eyes was depth. Roseau comes hard with 3+ lines, and for most schools in the state that's hard to match.WayOutWest wrote:For you to effectively walk out of the rink "chesty" after Buffalo was outshot 41-16, shutout, and lost by three goals, is curious, at best.
wishock wrote:After the game I spoke with someone who has been an integral part of the Roseau hockey program for years and he was impressed with Buffalo. There was a lot of respect in his comments. I also came to the realization this weekend that most people don't read this stuff anyway, especially hockey players and their families. Probably a good thing.
