The rankings must vary quite a bit because FSN said Edina was #3, and GR-G #7.

It depends on which rankings you look at, as there is some variation. Also if this was last night it would have been before today's new AP rankings came out. GR/G has been steadily climbing all of the rankings as they keep winning while most of the other teams (including Edina) have stumbled a bit.

Gotta remember that game was played on December 29th.

I am a little skeptical as to why they think Alex moved down after last week's rankings. Breck and Blake tied. Alex beat breck 2-0. I suppose they are just rankings, but still..

Duluth beat Warroad too... Makes no sense at all.

thank you boblee! haha
I was thinking the same thing as well. Duluth is a good team, but I don't think Warroad should lose to them 2-0.. I believe GRG beat them(duluth) quite badly the last time they played. After last week's games, I was thinking Alex would move up to at least two, not move DOWN.

Duluth is a very good team, but the #2 team in single A should be able to beat them. I guess that is an opinion though.

The (AA) top 3 rankings seem pretty accurate based on the current play of these teams. Roseville is playing strong, GRG has been playing consistantly well all year, StillH20 is still holding their own with all the injuries. Even though my team isn't at #1 I think this is a fair ranking. Again, only a ranking, and you dont get trophies for that. Tourney time isnt too far off.

The PP puzzles me, do they throw darts at a board to pick their top 10? I've seen a lot of hockey, and any top 10 list would have to include Edina. Especially after their 5-1 victory of (PP #6 Hopkins). If they aren't going to watch the games at least peek at a couple scores once in a while if your going to throw a list together.

I agree. Edina's record is good but not great but if you look at their tough schedule its a very good record. Of the PP top ten, Edina has beat Roseville 4-0, tied Stillwater 2-2, lost to Hopkins 0-3 and beat Hopkins 5-1, beat Holy Angels twice 5-1 and 3-2, and lost to Blake 2-3 in a very close game. I think they should be in the top ten even if it is in the lower half.

I agree too that:
a. The Pioneer Press is the worst of all the polls, and
b. Edina is definitely a Top 10 team. Right now they should be somewhere between 5 and 7, IMO.

Any poll that excludes non-metro teams is ridiculous!

I would just like to comment that Edina has outscored the teams they have played in the top ten 20-12, if I'm calculating right...

AHA - played twice outscored 8-3
Stillwater - tie 2-2
Roseville 4-0
Grandrapids 1-3
Hopkins played twice outscored 5-4,

which equals 20 goals for and 12 against and they're still not in top ten for Pioneer press!

No question Edina is one of the ten best teams in the Metro Area and even the whole State, and deserves to be ranked in everybody's Top 10. As others here have commented, the Pioneer Press poll is the hardest one to figure out.

Agreed, BluelineD19 look at this thread above your post most people agree Edina is a no brainer top 10 team.

It appears as if both papers rate wins higher than strength of schedule. PP tends to rate communities where their paper is circulated higher as well.

Here is what I have seen, in my honest opinion:

Stillwater
Eden Prairie
Roseville
Grand Rapids/Greenway

Edina
Hopkins
Centennial
Irondale
Elk River

That is just AA and not in order, but in two groups. Edina leads the charge in the second group.
