-Billary and the rest of the politicians; those of you not in the southern tier of counties don't know lucky you were from Thanksgiving to early January. If you turned on the TV you wouldn't have even known Christmas was coming, it was non stop political ads. Even the local news was pretty much politicians from start to finish minus a little weather and sports. Geez I can't wait for this fall

Oh, and hearing about how wonderful Roseau is. Nothing against them, but it reminds me of a T-shirt I saw after "The Titanic" movie had been out for a while:
"It sank, get over it."
That's the feeling I get when I hear the R word.

You are not alone. They were fortunate for Grand Rapids and Century to knock off the favorites last year.PuckTime wrote:

I have no response - so I'll regale everybody with story about my dad and about why he's such an interesting guy (who always made it to my games
I'm 15 years old and playing basketball in the alley (which was my first mistake... basketball). I go up for a rebound, and come down on my brother's foot - snapped my ankle immediately. I obviously start hopping into the house on my good ankle, fully aware that I have real problems. I get in the house, hop past my mom who's in the kitchen in a panic... "what happened?! what happened?!"... and I make it to the livingroom and flop face first on couch.
As I'm laying there, I'm explaining to my mom that I have a broken ankle - it's one of those where I knew it right away. She manages to get my shoe off, and it's clear... it's the size of a softball and completely black - you can't mistake it - all of this within about 1 minute. As this is going on, my dad - who was upstairs and oblivious to anything going on - comes down the stairs, stops and takes a look at my mom who's checking out my ankle, inspects the ankle itself, then says the line to my mom that will always be the best line I've ever heard come out of his mouth...
"Hey, while you're down there, why don't you just kiss his @$$"
Then he walked away.
Mom jumps up and follows him into the other room. I don't know what she said, but it was enough to convince him that I should probably get to the hospital and he should be the one to take me. At that point, he tells me that we'll go just as soon as he takes a shower - so I sit and wait for 20 minutes with my ankle resting on the ottoman. It's finally time to go - our car is parked on the street out front, which is down about 8 steps from our front door... dad heads for the car as I'm sitting there I get up and hop down the 8 steps following him - on my own.
So, now I've managed to finally make some headway toward getting some help for this thing - I think I'm on way.... Ah, but dad enjoys his coffee. So, before we can go to the hospital, we have to stop at White Castle for a cup of Joe - except they're out. But "we should have some ready in about 5 minutes". Next comes the 2nd best line I've ever heard from my dad...
"I can wait. We're in no hurry".
So now, I'm about 40-45 minutes into my untreated injury, my dad has questioned the legitmacy if my softball-sized purple ankle, he's clean, and he has his coffee. We finally make it to the hospital I get everything treated, casted, etc., then the best thing in the world happened... As we're backing out of the parking lot, my dad absolutely crushes the rear end of his car around a parking pole! It was awesome! Got his bumper so far into the thing, we were actually stuck on it for a short period of time. It was like a dream come true!
So despite Neut's comment, my dad is proof that Eastside dads do indeed come through... eventually!
