Not many big games so its time to do a little reset to see just where we are at.

Highway 2AA, AHA: Early losses to Moorhead, Wayzata and WBL were and still are a concern but a recent win over HM is a good omen. They have Edina in that section and Jefferson and Burnsville are also huge behemouth public schools that stand in the way.

If their good blackjack hand is given any room and they continue to get good goaltending, they can do it.

County Road 3AA, CDH This team has consistently beaten the teams that they should and not beaten any team that they need to if they want to prove that they can get to St Paul. The good news is that its been a little mistake here and there that has resulted in this situation.

Their strength of schedule will be an advantage come Lent. But they need to show that they can consistently beat a Rosemount/ Eastview/Woodbury type team because thats who stands in the way.

I4AA, HM. The Pioneers have been steady if not spectacular. Most important is that they have shown they have enough to beat anybody in their section . A win over BSM early and A 5-2 win over WBL looms large. Roseville will also be pesky, if they even have to play them.

The Pioneers chances are excellent.

Trunck Highway 5AA, BSM. Only 3 losses and all to good teams.

Minnetonka is in this section and the Red Knights recently lost to them 3-2 but packerboy's sources advise that the refs were atheists at the end of the game.
This will be a fun section and a much anticipated rematch if it materializes.

They all have different roads to travel on. Their chances at making it all the way are good in some cases, not so good in others and 'Up for Grabs ' in most.

CDH defeated Hastings 6-1

HM beat NSP by 2 ...if it was football.

AHA has Prior lake and then Minnetonka this weekend. I see the Skippers like to play the Catholics in order to inject a little spiritualism into the season. Smart.

BSM plays Irondale tonight

CDH goes to FLake on Sat. Should be a good game as the Rangers are having a fine season.

HM has a grudge match with Tartan on Sat.

Thats the traffic report on the road this weekend...the road From Constantinople to St Paul that is.

Mary Chapin Carpenter tells us there will be stones in the road, that the path isn't always smooth. You know, sometimes your the windshield, sometimes your the bug.

Hill travels to the land of packerboy this week, and then meet Richfield at Aldrich.

AHA takes on New Prague and Red Wing.

BSM takes on Shattuck between both SLP's.

Cretin tries to get their mind right vs Marshall, Mounds View and Park.

Coming from a direction other than Constantinople, Centennial travels to ER before hosting the Spuds.

Another week of preparation ahead. May St. Christopher be with us all.

Thats right Neut, the road is long with many a winding turn and gettin your mind right can be a little easier with a little song sung by ole Luke while driving all around watching hokey

CDH lost to FLake 4-3

AHA lost to Minnetonka 6-3

HM got the best of the Fish Sauce this time 6-0

BSM beat Irondale 8-2.

While I understand that the question is rhetorical, I feel that after such a fruitful weekend in the public sector, it should be noted that thousands of us - particularly those from the northern heathen schools - are taking a slightly different road trip south, as we look forward to the intersection with the Road from Constantinople:

Yup, old Highway 61 is the road to travel tonight for CDH up to Duluth. You old timers will remember that route before 35 was built.

BSM plays SpringLP and AHA plays New Prague.

HM is idle before taking on CowTown and the much improved Packers on Thursday.

Yes who_ b, the road has many travelers on it. Hopefully , thay can stay warm today

But there wil be a few less travelers tonight due to weather conditions and cancellations.

A warm easy chair with a visit from my old pal gentlemen jackdaniels is in order I believe. Any hockey on?

But through rain, snow, sleet and dark of night the Red PioRaidaStars March on. The road is always plowed and sanded on the way From Constantinople to St Paul.

The roads north and south of us were like a desert last night.
Hope all of our flannel shirt pals are OK.

No doubt #81 played for a public school, who_b.

But his temptations have been rejected 3 times while fasting as the road winds through the desert.

The Temptations of Jesus ocurred in the desert while He fasted for 40 days. (No, not the guys who did "My Girl" and "Ain't to Proud to Beg".)
This 40 days of fasting was the inspiration upon which the great season of Lent was established.

Lent 2008 is upon us. Ash Wednesday is a week from today. Its so exciting.

To prepare for Palm Sunday weekend, BSM won by a lot and AHA barely beat New Prague. Those Czechs down there are no pushovers.

CDH's game was cancelled because the Dulutherans can't handle a little weather..again.

But we resume our travels on the road "From Constantinople to St Paul" on Thursday.

I think that our Red PioRaidaStars can do it.... or is it Just My Imagination, once agian, runnin away with me........

After the Wild game last night , I tuned into the Catholic channel like I always do and prayed a few decades of the Rosary with Mother Angelica.

It was an inspiration to me , of course.

Our Catholic teams will like wise be inspired tonight.

CDH takes on the Mustangs from Moundsview at Highland tonight.
As always, packerboy will be there and tonight we have arrainged to have a priest there to bless hockey sticks.

Just stop by about 6:30 and remember to bring your backup stick too. Drop a small donation into the basket as you leave, whatever you are comfortable with.

HM takes on SSP at Wakota. Wakota is to people who grew up in SSP what Tara was to Scarlett O'Hara. We go back there to refresh our spirits when need be. It always works. Good luck to both teams.

AHA is at home vs da Wingers.

Lets hope our teams can avoid the potholes that are out there on the road From Constantinople to St Paul.

Things are getting tighter arent they? Its February. Just a few days until Ash Wednesday and the start of the joyous season of Lent. Only 4-5 games left in the season.

But last night was a great night of hockey. I saw an OT game and then got home and watched the Edina/Tonka game with my ole pal jackdaniels. Really good game, even if no Catholics were involved. I love my DVR feature.

It was a late night for jack, since he has to get up early to work his construction job on the 35W bridge, so we fast forwarded thru all of the time outs.

This weekend,

CDH hosts Park

HM plays Richfield

AHA plays Shattuck

BSM plays Shattuck and SLP.

The PioRaidaStars continue on their journey From Constantinople to St Paul.

Playing at Wakota is like flying into Mile High Stadium, except in South St. Paul, it's the stench making it hard for the Pioneers to catch their breath (plus the nervous ride over the defective westbound bridge).

However, the Pioneers know what was really going on when Packerboy said, "Good luck to both teams." It's like when he betrayed us by "crossing his toes" a couple of years ago, praying that the Cretin Raiders would face Grand Rapids in place of the vastly superior Hill-Murray Pioneers in the State Championship Final.

Come to think of it, Packerboy's poison prayers can be the only logical reason for all those 1975-1980 State Tournament losses at the hands of the heathen Indians. However, Packerboy was probably out carousing with his friend Jackie-D and missed 1991, letting things get back to normal as the Pioneers massacred Grand Rapids in running time.

This March, let's all pray that Packerboy is again in some state of sin far from Hockeytown, State of Hockey, USA.

We pray for pistol so that his bitterness will pass...like a kidney stone.

Since our beloved Pioneers are members of the Red PioRaidaStars, we dont mention things like losing to GR in '06 so that the true Catholics could win and the "Kerry Catholic" variety just politely watch.

We also dont talk about the fact that the players who were on the last HM championship team are mow middle aged.

No, we are in an age of tolerance and no persecutions are allowed. "The Edict" must be obeyed.

This week CDH starts a stretch of games with Woodbury, Roseville, Duluth Marshall and WBL. They will either be ready for sections or ready to get it over with.

HM plays Simley to get ready for their game at the Xcel with STA. That will be for their Conference championship or as true Catholics refer to it "King of the Cupcakes".

AHA and BSM also will start to wind up conference play.

Ash Wednesday is 2 days away my brothers and sisters.

Let us prepare ourselves for what is to come.

Dirty foreheads, sore knees and carpal tunnell from saying the rosary.

Stock up on tartar sauce and macoroni and cheese. Get out that old tuna casorole recipe.

Lent is upon us.
