"The prep team is the has only played Holy Angels, and probably only will. Sure it's a loss, but this is a different team" HSHOCKEY WATCHER

HSW - What are you talking about? If you're saying that Holy Angels is the only team to play the Prep team, then you're wrong. Benilde played them years ago before Holy Angels. Blake played them and so has Duluth Marshall.

Benilde played the top team yesterday as well.

Yeah this one surprises me BSM's goalie kept this one for them I'm assuming when I look at shots being 35-11, congrats to BSM on the victory.

I may just have to pick the underdog after this happened MNHockeyFan

HShockeywatcher - Get it through your St. Thomas Academy head. The main prep team at Shattuck is who lost to Benilde. See below for roster.

I have to defend SSM only because i grew up in FaRIbault watching all the great players come through. Its been awhile since i last watched a SSM v. HS team, the last game i saw was when Crosby was playing and they beat AHA 4-3 in OT. I was at that game and i noticed they never played the top lines. SOOO in SSM defence they probably played a lot of their 3rd and 4th lines. Because someone else stated it earlier, that these games have no value for SSM so why would they want to hurt their best players.
I remember watching BSM a long time ago play SSM and they never stood a chance, same with Blake. But in respect to BSM i havent watched any of there games, im only basis this on past expirience.

Played only 3rd and 4th line?

Post by BSM99 »

So, you think that Shattuck just wanted to "throw" a game against a high school team? Think again on that one.

Check the stats online. Shattuck had 35 shots Murry had 7 shots, Toews and Stepan had handful a of shots a piece. Are those guys on the 3rd line? yeah, right.

Shattuck is still the better team - but it shows that the top high school teams can hang in there. BOTH benilde and holy angels have proven that.

Shattuck, throw a game, yeah right. Siouxnut, since when does any team not just Shattuck want to throw a game. Easy answer: Never. I doubt they wanted to lose, bsm llike AHA played a hard fought game and won

Haha, i never said they were trying to throw the game. You guys have to read a little closer. All im saying is that for SSM this is an exhibition kind of game, it has no value for them, so why wouldnt they play more of there 3rd and 4th liners. Maybe they did play as hard as they could.
I wasnt even at the game, i was just saying thats what i noticed last time i attended a HS v. SSM. I can tell you guys think very highly of bsm.
Besides, i heard this was one of SSM's worst teams in years, not many have D-1 potential compared to past teams...But its still probably a lot more than most.

FYI: I don't think either Toews or Murry played against BSM. I heard both of them and 1 other player didn't even suit up. So if you have stats that says they played I would love to see them. The stats shown in another thread in this chat was for the BSM - St Louis Park game.
I was NOT at the game but heard it was a total control by shattuck. Bsm goalie was the difference.
I would say the AHA game (this year) was a better show of what kind of team shattuck is. I know Toews and Murry played in that game.
Another thing to Sioux Nut 16. Shattuck has one of its strongest teams in years. So I would say "maybe" you don't know as much as you'd like everyone here to think you do. What do you base your statement that this is one of their worst teams in years?????????? Not only do they have D-1 players they players who will be drafted pretty high in the NHL.

I disagree with this statement for 2 reasons (1) SSM gets a number of players from the Twin Cities and in a sense compete against some of these private schools for kids (2) Several years ago I watched BSM beat SSM in a very close game. Towards the end of that game SSM played Zach Parise's line to exhaustion. So unless Ward has become less competitive in past several years, I think we chalk this one up to a good effort and possibly a little bit of luck for the boys from Benilde rather than SSM viewing this as a meaningless exhibition game.

Wow, get it through your thick head. BSM beat Shattuck with all their big guns on the ice and getting alot of ice time. See stats below.

Give them some credit, they beat a great team!!

This is to 2sides, I say they are the weakest team in awhile, because i am from Faribault and i have heard from coaches, parents, students that this is not as good of a team as they have had in past years. If they are one of the best teams in years, why can people only name two of the first liners? Ill give them credit since they won a national championship last year, but that was last year. Lets see what they do this year.
And i never stated they were a terrible team, just compared to past SSM teams they arent as talented. Maybe you just dont know SSM's history?

Do we need to go as low as name calling about a high school hockey game? I stand corrected about the players that played. That is why I asked for any info available on line sheets. By the way "shattuck" is a private school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never WASN'T giving Benilde credit. They must have played a GREAT game. Good for them. Would love to see the results of about 10 more games played this year between the 2 teams and see who won them. Hey, look what happened to the 17 -0 Patriots. Any given day, right!! Sorry, my human error on players availabilty for shattuck. Happens sometimes. Thank God, your perfect!
To Siouxnut16. Who is only naming 2 first liners as being the only good players. They are just the ones I heard weren't going to play. In no way did this mean they are the only "good" players on the team. I have heard that that happens to be one of the strengths this year. That they have really NO superstar. That they are just a good "team". And No sir, I am NOT a shattuck historian. I guess since your from Fairibult that would make you the knowlegable one. Talking to the Shattuck coaches about their team would certainly give YOU the inside edge! Keep us informed!
