That really seals the deal. You have me totally convinced. That poll doesn't even count because 64% of those who voted are from Roseau.

What a crock! U can,t compare 1 game to the next. Do u know hockey? Each game starts at 0-0 and hockey is a game of momentum. U cant say well this team beat this team by two so this team should win. Thats retarded. For the record I live no where near Roseau but the other crock is, should have, would have, could have did not happen. Simple fact Roseau is still unbeaten.stmartin123 wrote:I understand that the goaline is part of the team but what i was saying is, blaine is not one of the top teams in the state. Roseau got out worked and should have lost the game. Now put Roseau up against tonka, benilde or edina. those saves that lee made, might not have been saves and Roseau would have lost the game. If Roseau is so good, how come they got out played by a mediocre team.ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:Find a different dead horse. This game just proves that Roseau is not as good as everyone thinks they are. The only reason Roseau won the game is their goalie, mike lee. Blaine took it to Roseau for the majority of the game, nut lee held tough and kept Roseau in the game.
The record will not make it to the State Championship Game.

Leave this argument to trained professionals. Well, except BIAFP and rams80. But there a lot of Ram faithful who aren't "drunk" with the undefeated record. Your obvious bias hurts "the cause".

So you actually think you can compare one game to the next and figure out whos going to win. Not with good teams ace and sometimes a much weaker team will rise by either having a hot goaltender or a whole team playing there hearts out. Thats whats great about hockey. I believe rankings are done thru wins and losses and strength of schedule. Not by saying Edina beat so and so by 3 and Roseau beat them by 2 so Edina should win by 1. It just don,t work that way most times. Can't Never Tried wrote:Then how do they come up with rankings?snapdog wrote: What a crock! U can,t compare 1 game to the next.

Like I have said I am not from Roseau I,m from down by Lake Superior. Hey I would agree Roseau plays a weaker schedule than the Lake Conference which is awesome. But in my mind and my view which is only that Roseau won the State Championship last year and has not lost this season. I believe they deserve to be #1 until someone beats them!

I am not sure what you mean? should the score have been 0-0 then.Fargo wrote:Don't think they play alot in the wind and snow any more like it was today. Weather had a big effect on the game. When the opposing team stays at your house or you stay at theirs it is tough to get "psyched" up against the other team. My opinion. I also think Blaine is better than "ok"wingmaster wrote:For as much pond hockey as they play up north, I am surprised that a team from cityapolis could even keep it that close. I was not impressed with roseau in any way today. I think Blaine is an OK team that played OK against an OK team.
OK?
they haven't been Ok since the Hillman brothers left

My god. Who cares who one the game. Can't people on either side just enjoy what they saw. It was an event, NOT A GAME. Although it is recorded as such, it goes beyond a final score. There was no winner or loser in this game. The purpose of the EVENT was to honor old time minnesota hockey and if some (it seems like most on this post) can't see that, then they never will!
I just want to thank both teams for playing in the elements and good luck to both come sections!

out worked should have lost the game? what game do you people watch? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shots were even scoring chances 4-4 after one from their on out it was all roseau. blaine had 2 shots in the second period for pete sakes. roseau is a finesse team which was totally eliminated on that ice. they did an awesome job guting out a win on ice that favored the less skilled team of blaine.

Are you being serious when you say Blaine took it to Roseau for most of the game?! I don't know what game you were watching. Roseau out shot Blaine 30-20, and even in the first period which everyone seems to want to give to Blaine, they out shot them 11-10 and had an equal number of scoring chances at 4. Starting in the second, Roseau began to control the game. I recorded the game, and for about the first 6 minutes of the second you'll hardly see Roseau's goalie because all the action is down in the Blaine end. They outshoot them 11-4 in that period, and have the best scoring opportunities including a Landman shot off the crossbar. I'd say it was the Blaine goalie who was keeping them in it. I recorded the game and have watched it a couple of times, and you are definitely dreaming.stmartin123 wrote:I know it was outside, but both teams had to play in the same elements as the other team. What does student enrollment have to do with the hockey programs? Student enrollment just means the school itself is big or small, not the number of kids that tryout or play hockey.black sheep wrote:Student enrollement of said game
Blaine 2,900+
Roseau 410
Why was this game even close.......
Because the Blaine kids stayed in Roseau and got to drink the magic river water....
Roseau boys are bred to play hockey, Blaine kids have more choices and aren't limited like Roseau.

Can someone explain to me why Roseau is being called an overrated team, when they shut out PS2 #7 Blaine, but Edina is the greatest team in the state because they give up 3 goals to PS2 #26 Hopkins and squeak out a 4-3 victory. Also Roseau outshoots Blaine 29-20, but got outworked and should have lost the game?? Blaine had 10 shots in the final two periods combined!
Don't judge Roseau or Blaine by the game on Saturday. Both teams are quick and rely on quick passing to make their game go. There was no chance for quick passing in the wind, snowdrifts and chipped up ice. It was a shame that two good teams didn't get to play on good ice in good conditions, so we could have seen a real hockey game.
