Since I really can't just let this go.....

A few years ago everyone laughed at Section 1 and Albert Lea, they were blown out twice in 2004, but in 2005 they gave Warroad a heck of a game then won their next 2 to finish 5th. In 2006 mankato East loses twice but was very competitve. All of a sudden people around the state see what we down here have known for a long time, Albert Lea has some pretty darn good hockey. Prior to 2005 Albert Lea or West could put up a record like they have today and no one would notice, now nearly everyone has them ranked as a top 10-15 team in class A.

Now 1A has moved east and 3A takes its place and in a few years New Ulm, or Marshall, or Luverne, or whomever will do the same. Albert Lea has proven that just because you're not from a certain area doesn't make you any less a quality hockey team. A quality team is a quality team and maybe 2008 isn't 3A's year, but at least they have a chance to play for respect and if they get beat by 10 by a team of private school kids (whom should be AA anyhow) then so be it, they're not sandbagging and can hold their heads high.

I doubt that anyone would vote to give the 1 seed to NU, but if they were thinking about it, I bet they change their mind now. Imagine what the NU fans would be saying if this happened to Marshall. :x :x :x The fortunate thing is that it didn't happen to Marshall or Hutch or Litch. So now we again will have to listen to the eagles roar of excuses.

Now kids is a ot 4-3 win better than a 10-0 beating or a 9-0 beating? Or even a loss in OT. Or even a tie to a swc team? At this point I think I would take the win. O and no excuses on a win 4-3 in ot, just a recap and you can paint your own picture. Shot NU 70 Fairmont 12.

i wondered how long it would take before somebody from nu chimed in. here we go again with the deflecting. the result was you let a team like fairmont hang with you. and please, enough with the swc, your conference is just as bad, if not worse. and bringing up somebody else's game or records when YOUR game is being talked about, come on. can't you just admit that you had an OFF night. you sure won't let anyone else say that. congrats to the tigers from hutch who should now be considered the top team.

I think that this section is just a plot by the high school league to get kids interested in hockey in the balmy southern minnesota. State tournament appearances is the best way to help kids get interested in the game. Yeah they'll prolly get blown out for a couple of years but maybe then they will build some good programs.

Agree. Too funny.
Suddenly, SHOTS are important.
Wonder when that changed?
Hutch has a nice squad.
Wide-open section. Last man standing wins, just like it should be.

I'd take an impressive 4-0 loss to Shattuck  .

The picture i paint is NU took a lot of shots that may not have been quality, because let's face it...quality shots on this team will go in.

Now i mean come on this is fairmont, a team that gives up 9 goals to luverne and 8 to windom(Two SWC teams...in fact the only SWC team fairmont can beat is sleepy eye) I don't care what the shots were, Fairmont is a very weak team and you should put them away by more than a 4-3 OT win if you think you are going to "walk right through sections" what a joke.

Those darn "Parents Night" games. Home team always seems to come out flat.
Game had a great "playoff type" atmoshpere. Lots of "big" hits.
Shots were about 40-20 in favor of Willmar.
NU took way too many penalties and played with little discipline.
NU was a "reflection of the coach" tonight.
When you play 5 on 4 or even 5 on 3, your going to get burned.
Refs made bad calls both ways. Each team had a goal called off.
Congrats to the lads from Willmar as they took advantage of the evening and on this night were the better "team".

How can anyone pick this section!!!
Disregard what he said he has no clue what he's talking about

You people from NU and Marshall are just worried about each other. Keep it up and some other team in the Sec. will put you in your place

We could see some good games here..

Marshall and Willmar, played 2 times in a week(late december), both taking a win

and

possibly Windom and Litch considering windom tied marshall and NU beat them 6-3 only, there is a possibility but i don't see a major upset coming

You never know though, Redwood beat Fairmont 5-2 last time they met, they could give NU a run for their money

 How is this for a scenario
Redwood beats NU 4-3 in regulation(not impossible, thank you Fairmont)
Marshall beats Willmar (very likely)
Windom beats Litch (this game will be a good game)
Luverne(if they can beat Fairmont) beats Hutch (however this is a bigger longshot than RV over NU)

It would be an all SWC Section Semi-Final

What in the "H E double hockey sticks" have you been smoking?????????

I stand by my original prediction: Willmar and Hutchinson in the final, Hutch moving on to the State.

I dont think behindthemask has been smoking anything, he has just died and went to heaven or he is on something more than you can smoke.
LDC will be in the final and will play either New Ulm or Willmar, sorry to the Marshall faithful your going out in the first game, Ldc / Hutch will be a battle wouldnt be surprised to see a few OTs

The final will be decided by the goaltender, sorry New Ulm giving up 4 to Willmar and 3 to Fairmont on 12 shots just wont cut it if you get to the final
and for Willmar if you should have luck on your side, well you have no goaltending
So its LDC by default, have fun at state and dont give a crap about the rest of the state says about the section, your there and they ARE NOT, and that goes to anybody else that makes this prediction false
GOOD LUCK TO ALL, March madness has come early and to SW Minnesota

No I'm not high, and no, I didn't die and go to heaven. I was hoping to get the NU fans heated up but I guess it worked on everyone.
What I said was far from the truth. I guess sarcasm is best displayed verbally rather than in writing. In all honesty, I see Hutch taking it all if they can get by a tough section semi-final w/ Litch. Unless there is a crazy upset.

Any upset predictions????

I don't really see any upsets here and IMO the top 4 will move on and after that I think its any team could win. Everyone has beaten everyone, Wilmar has beat NU, Marshall had a 4 goal lead on Litch, Hutch lost to NU by 4, Marshall-NU traded big wins and Marshall-Willmar have traded wins. All 5 of these top seeded teams can beat anyone of any given day and it'll come down to who has the hot goalie just like every other playoff scenario. Should be a great section tourny!
