From Constantinople to St.Paul: Episode 1

I am sure CNT was one of those 'experts' who said that the USA couldnt beat the Russians, too.
"After all, look what happened in Madison Square Garden" he would scientifically say.
According to CNT , the CDH girls had no chance this year and the Patriots had the Super Bowl locked up. Great.
Like sheep they follow the crowd.
"Hey, that guy can't feed all of those people with some loaves of bread and fishes" CNT's ancient relatives proclaimed.
"You paid how much for Alaska" they all snickered.
No Faith.
Without Faith a man can do nothing; with it all things are possible.

Well PB thank you for that faith scolding..I feel much better.
You can have as much faith as you want.... I just don't have the same picks as you

And just to show I'm a giving spirit, I'll borrow you one of the jackstands if ya need it, cause as they say ya can't make it on bread alone!
As for the girls hockey ummm... you gotta ask bobber on that, I don't hang out over there!

Not big on socialism either (or communism) , so that USA / Russia thing is out the window.
Actually didn't want either team in the Superbowl but what can ya do? they don't have ties.
Alaska nice place to visit..and fish how much was it?

Another great day in this glorious season of Lent.
Its a sunny day. A little cool but thats OK, in another 2 months and it will be up into the 30s for baseball.
Our Catholic teams will turn up the heat a little and move down the road closer to St Paul.
In 2AA AHA takes on Chaska
In 3AA CDH hosts Hastings
In 4AA HM will play the winner of NSP and Como
In 6AA BSM plays Mpls West
Lets check up on our throng of fans traveling with us:

Those folks are prepared for the weather as we mush our way on the last leg of the journey From Constantinople to St Paul.Good dog.

Another beautuful day as our Catholic teams all advanced. HM plays tonight.
Its on to the Coliseum in the Holy City for the CDH Raiders as they got by Hastings.
BSM and AHA also won but they are not allowed entry into the Holy City yet as they are engaged in battle in the far outposts.
HM will be allowed to fight in the Coliseum if they beat NSP.
The Boss is on his way to St Paul just like our Red PioRaidaStars.
Another Boss leads a Stations of the Cross procession every Good Friday to the Coliseum in Rome. Just as our Pontiff leads the throng to the Coliseum , we are lead by our Catholic hockey teams to our own Coliseum in St Paul.
The game isnt until Saturday night but as we go to our live mini cam shot, it looks like there is a crowd already gathering.

Yes it looks like some of our travelers have arrived after their long journey From Constantinople to St Paul
Our Catholic teams have captured the hearts of so many a fan. We always feel like there is no such thing as a cold arena as everyone greets us so warmly.
The fact that our schools are not structured exactly like others has no meaning to the great and kind people of Minnesota hockey. The feelings of affection for us are greatly appreciated. Like the Boss says, "just a little of that human touch"
We continue on our journey down the road.

Shanty they are a public school in the little town of St. Michael, another fine product of the Mississippi 8 Conference, but I'm sure PB will gladly adopt them for the trek...........at least for one more game!Irishmans Shanty wrote:It has been brought to my attention that there is some #10 seed that goes by the name of St. Michael that is still hanging around. This sounds like your juristiction packerboy, can you give me any insight on them? Are they happening Catholics or what?

Indeed.
All of the Saints are welcome here regardless of religious belief or seeding.
They may share our bread and drink our wine that He has provided we will also pray for some jack
We Catholics feel that it is only right and just that we repay all of those kind folks that so warmly welcome us into their Coliseums and Arenas.
Join us sinners and Saints as we March From Constantinople to St Paul.

GO Red Pios!!!
And thanks to the RaidaStars for a fun season.
The throng has thined out a bit but we continue on our journey with the 2 teams still alive and praying.
On the road From Constantinople to St Paul we have lost one half of our teams.
CDH lost to Rosemount at the great Coliseum named after a couple of Catholics, Lee and Rose. It was an even game but CDH couldn't get a bounce and the Rosemount goalie was solid.
AHA was out gunned by Edina 6-2
But the strongest of the 4 remain. BSM and HM.
It will be a BSM /Tonka battle that will be a game worth seeing and equal to anything you will see at the Xcell. The BSM Red Knights will no doubt be the crowd favorite as they are a little tiny opt up parochial school going against a behemouth pagan public.
I am sure John Miliea will write an article glamourizing that aspect of it.
HM will take on Mounds View who upset Stillwater.
The journey continues.

The roar from the Marion crowd made it all the way to the Southern Suburbs of the Windy City. Several reports have said there were a few casualties reported from the South Bend. Apparently, I missed out on a great journey down I-65 to Indianapolis...Irishmans Shanty wrote:A little look at how the brotherhood is doing around the country

Marian takes a big step down the road from Constantinople to Indianapolis.
Now back to your regular scheduled programing.
Ties to the Indiana State tourney, Mr. Shanty?

I'm a consumer of hockey everywhere schwang. While in the south suburbs you may want to get over to Homewood-Floosmoor or Orland Park for some good secular prep action. For the parochial in you get over to the Southwest Ice Arena for some Catholic League action.
St. Rita, Fenwick, Providence, Mt. Carmel et al are all currently traveling the Road from Constantinople to 1901 W. Madison Street

Indeed, Mr. Shanty. In fact, I was invited to play in an Adult league in Orland Park next year as I just got down here a few months ago and wasn't able to get in on it this year. I have also seen the place in Homewood, but never had the chance to skate/visit a game there.Irishmans Shanty wrote:I'm a consumer of hockey everywhere schwang. It's exciting to get involved with some hockey in a different territory.
You can rest assured I'll be monitoring both paths leading from Constantinople to 1901 W. Madison St. and St. Paul...
I figured PB could use a little humor in light of the outcomes this week...
Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and
cook a venison steak. But, all of Bubba's neighbors were Catholic....And
since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday.
The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a
problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their
priest.
The Priest came to visit Bubba, and suggested that he become a Catholic.
After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass....and as the
priest sprinkled holy water over him, he said, "You were born a Baptist,
and raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic."
Bubba's neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived, and
the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood. The
Priest was called immediately by the neighbors, and, as he rushed into
Bubba's yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and
watched in amazement.
There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he
carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted: "You wuz born a
deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a fish."

Great joke who_ b.
Its good to have a sense of humor, especially during Lent.
But 2 of our Catholic teams continue on the road. HM has entered the Holy City to arrive at the great Coliseum to take on MV on Tuesday in the 4AA semis.
BSM plays Tonka on Wednesday at the Italian out post of Mariucci Arena. Since most Italians are Catholic, its a good sign for the Red Knights. Too bad both teams cant play in the tournament.
Maybe some of that Holy Water that Bubba was useing will get sprinkled on the ice so that out Catholic teams cam advance.
We know that so many want to chant those clever things like "daddys money" and "public schools" at the games so we dont wat to dissappont.
Oh, and by the way, for all of the nimrods who go to a hockey game and chant "public schools" , there is is really no need. ..ah, we can tell.
So, From Constantinople to St Paul we are spending daddy's money and saying the Rosary for the Red Pios to make it to state.

Have to agree with you there, PB. In fact, the public schools are becomming easier and easier to spot as these tournaments go on...packerboy wrote:

They're the ones still standing.

And those of us that are just believers in Him and His Son, pray to Him, Who is not a catholic, by the way, that all the boys will be safe and do their best on their way to losing or to the X, which is a building open to the PUBLIC (most of the time). And that He will be with them when they lose, especially those poor misled catholic boys.packerboy wrote:Great joke who_ b.![]()

See you at the LIffey in about 10 days.
Well Govs, 2 of the Catholics are still standing and in very tall fashion.Govs93 wrote:

If half of the 4 make it, Id say thats a pretty good considering the number of publics.
As far as identification issues go, thats never been a problem, especially after graduation and on to junior college.

Well, I am pleased to announce that Mother Angelica will be joining us at the Liffey this year.
Yes, it turns out that the good Mother used to be good friends with jackdaniels.
She will lead us in a few decades of the Rosary and then throw back one or 2 herself and talk a little hockey with us.
Sure, she knows hockey. In fact , she coaches this team of nuns that play in a Rec league. Their nickname is the "Knuckle Whackers"

Welcome Sisters and Mother Angelica and join us on our Lenten Crusade From Constantinople to St Paul

HM joins BSM as a section finalist.
HM will go up against the whole area of White Bear Lake while BSM takes on Minnetonka.
These 2 little opt up Catholic schools going against the giant suburban pagans is a real Cinderella story. We know that so many embrace our teams as their own because of the underdog appeal. Its very heart warming to see.
But there are no lions in the Coliseum to fear and no reason to believe that the out come cant be like this:

We salute the Red Pios as David will slue Goliath out on the road From Constantinople to St Paul
