Even if these aren't exactly the most desirable teams in a championship for many out there, I do think we'll have a great game. Both teams have played extremely well so far and have obviously earned the right to be here. Hill will need to continue its physicality to have a chance. The problem with this game is that they can't just focus on hitting Ness. If they focus too much on Gleason, Budish will kill them. If not Budish, then Everson. Or Lee. Or Baker. Or...well, you get the idea. The good news for Hill is that Philippi has been so solid in the tourney and will give them a chance, and Hill has proven it can score. It'll be interesting to see who can hold up the best, playing the third day in a row. But in the endI think the talent on the Edina side is just a little too much for HM to handle.
I agree with you Karl, I'd much rather have played BSM tonight. But hey, Edina did enough to win and make the finals. In all honesty, they've also had a great season and have earned their way to the final. The depth argument has more to do with the fact Giles tends to roll two lines the majority of the game and Hill runs 3. So 2 lines deep, Edina is a little better, but three lines deep Hill has an advantage. I really think Hill has something to prove to everyone and coupled with the momentum from last night will be hard to stop. I think the winner of the game tonight will get out on top early although it could easily be a barn burner to the end. Good luck to both squads and may the best green team win.
Both teams are VERY good hockey teams and it has showed througout the season. No matter the outcome, both deserve to be there, and this fact should not be lost on anyone.
As for the game, I think it will be interesting. If HM takes penalties, I think it could be an Edina route. But I think HM is smart enough and won't play the same way they played Roseau. While Roseau is good, they definitely don't have the high end talent up front like Edina does. I think Ness is an upgrade over Gleason, but the Edina 4 D-men is an upgrade over the Roseau 4 D-men. Hill-Murray won't be constantly getting the odd man rushes like they did last night.
Interesting fact about Edina (would probably hold true for most teams as well): Edina has only scored 2 times or less this season twice, and the lost both of those games (to BSM 2-1 & Tonka 3-2). I like Edina simply because they have speed, but also can play physical, something Roseau couldn't deal with. Hill-Murray was the first team this year that Roseau played that actually had a goalie AND punched them in the mouth. Roseau didn't know how to deal with it, and I think Edina would have had their way with Roseau had they won. But Hill-Murray was the better team; that's why they're playing tonight.
I like Edina 5-3 with an ENG. But it won't shock me if it goes the other way. Congrats to the two best teams in the state.
As a kid, this would be a championship I never wanted to see. As a 40 year old mature (well, somewhat!) adult. This is a great match up. Probably the states best goalie vs the states best line. Where is Phillippi going next year? I'd love to see Edina's line score a bunch of pretty goals! But I'd also love to see Phillippi get a shut out! I can't pick! GOOD LUCK TO BOTH!

Edina has too much in this one
I have to agree that HM will not get the odd man rushes that Roseau gave up last night, trying to get them into the offensive play. You will see Edina play the third line tonight, third game in 3 nights and they will have to, but it will be Anders Lee lining up between the 3rd line wings. Done that most of the year, w/ Lee pulling double shift...
Hill looked extremely composed last night, where Edina looked a bit wobbly and unorganized.
However, Watching both teams it is clear Edina is a much better team. Its one thing to have Landman and Ness shooting on net, but when you add a quick D in (Gleason) with two SOLID lines of forwards from Edina, I just cant see Hill keeping up.
Edina is the perfect setup of a team to beat Hill.
