Quick question about the 4 on 4 website, why are some names highlighted on the rosters? Does that mean anything or is it just like that?

The 4 on 4 is going great from what I hear from some Northfield girls. It's a great idea. Much easier than traveling all over on any given day for showcase

Those highlights mean nothing to anyone except Scott and I as we had some jersey issues early and these are people that were involved, he has just not cleared that off yet. Thanks

Faribault looks real good in the 4x4 league. Bergland is skating very well. Salmonson and Dickison also look good.

Northfield is also looking good. Dvorak has been scoring a lot. In last weekend's games they had 2 player that weren't wearing the regular league jerseys that looked real good too. One of them has a pretty strong slapper.

If the majority of each school's players are skating in the 4x4 league, I would say that these 2 will be sitting on top of the section.

Ya, I've just been too lazy to create a new user name. :P

I have to side with Mac15... Faribo kicked the tar out of AL last year during Sections (with a young team and good coaching), by the end of the year they were a much better team. Northfield "should" be a top flight team in the Section. AL will find out first just what kind of team they have in NFLD 11/18/2008.

T,
Let's hope Ms. Brittany kicks some of those girls in the butt, they need(ed) a wake up call. ](*,) Hopefully, the PP won't be minus on the year too.

If this 4x4 league has any bearings on the Section standings then Faribault should be on top....after watching some of the games, not one team looks to be as well rounded as Faribault. Faribault plays AL team on Sunday, so on Monday you can check stats to see how it turns out.
Does anyone know if any girls are missing from Faribaults or AL team in the 4x4 league....same for Northfield.

AL has 2 not playing for sure, possibly 4. 1 with a leg, 1 post shoulder surgery, both All conf last year. Not sure why the other 2 aren't playing, although both are involved in other sports and activities.

One no(ACL), one ?, but probably, not fully released yet from shoulder surgery. I heard her ACL was fixed, doing well, but usually ~6+ month rehab, hard for a talented athlete, especially their senior year. As far as I know, AL's regular goalie didn't play, nunerous other activities in the fall. Judging AL will be hard IMO, since I think they are combined with someone.

From what I was told, they turned the league into a big supermite program since Faribault and Mayo were dominating. In one door and out another just like mites? The interesting stat shows that Faribault was averaging 8.2 goals per game before the change and 5 goals per game since the change. Mayo was averaging 5.6 goals per game before the change and 4 goals per game since. Interesting that the Red Wing scoring increased from 3.6 goals per game and went up to 5.0 GPG. Dodge County's (Black team) scoring went up from 3.4 GPG up to 10 GPG! You can really tell what style fits the league organizers. Not that it is a bad thing but playing with random players rather than a set line is a different sort of skill requiring recognition of who is on the ice and who is skating where. The overall scoring per team has dropped a little from 5.08 GPG to 4.80 GPG. That's not really significant but it is interesting that some of the teams have gone backwards.

An interesting observation from the website is the number of young ladies that are in the top 25 scoring. Dodge County has 3, Red Wing has 2, JML has 1 and Mayo has 1. This should be great for their futures. I hope NN (JM/L) heals fast as tryouts start in one week.

It is nice to see many running to get on the Faribault bandwagon. This dominance is a teaser. The best is yet to come.

What is funnier , is the season hasn't even started and AL is already making up excuses. Excuses are like .......... every one has one, and they all stink.

Faribault is the greatest. :D :D

I make no excuses. When did I? Let the season play out as it will.
FB could be the dominant team. Austin's superior coaching could do it again. Who knows?

The biggest issue right now is why is this forum' clock off by one hour?
Maybe we should start a thread on that...

Who is missing from Faribault that will be playing when tryouts start next week? Mayo does not have three of their top returning scorers (soccer?) and two of their veteran defensemen. Austin is split up between 2 teams and and so is Dodge County. That makes it a little more difficult to get a real read on how a team will do. Albert Lea only has 10 players on their roster after running at least 15 in showcase this past spring.

Rocket, your daughter is going to jump from 12U to high school? Big jump.

This thread makes me laugh! We are seriously trying to gauge what team will win the section by a 4 on 4 league in September and October?!?! Most teams have played without full squads all fall long because of volleyball, soccer, tennis, softball, cross country, etc. etc. Lets give these teams time with their own coaches and full squads before we declare a winner.

Rocket - great job on the stats and terrific points about Faribault and Mayo (insert sarcasm). This was a league which was to run lines straight through, but because some deemed it necessary to short shift some while giving other more playing time, the organizers had to act like parents and police some parents. Shocking, I know!!! (Let's insert some more sarcasm)

A big thanks needs to go out to Scott and Jeremy. They have provided a inexpensive and fairly competitive league for girls who can't justify going to the cities to play. I only hope they decide to do again next year or I guess many won't have a choice.

Should be a great year!

SouthSide I guess your kid is prolly not be one of the good players - my girlfriend is in this thing and they have 13 skaters onher team so not every one will skate the same time and some are not in really good skating shape. Sometimes her team skates 2 up & 2 back and sometimes they skate 3 up & 1 back so if they were running lines with 13 skaters not everyone will get equal numbers of shifts. I got news for you new hi school parents--they don't get equal playing time when the real season comes round. The red team takes the longest hsifts I ever saw and are coach would just bench them if they did that with him. The league is still pretty cool to have and I wish we could do that insted of captians practices. at captains practice we put the newbies in their place and make them sit more if they wnat to scrimmage more they have tobe aggressive but we kinda dont let them. My girlfriend likes to play but the only extra stuff she does is shoot at the wall in my garage with me so she will prolly not be on the first line with her friends that still do camps and stuff. She is going to some concert on Sat and is going miss the game so I can tell that she is not to into being the #1 line.

From what I heard Faribault was not one of the teams that was setting up lines. I talked to the parent coach and he said the girl draw straws for the first 4 girls to go out and then just line up on the bench. They dominated AL/Dodge county on Sunday...9-1, with Dodge county goalie in net. Not sure if she is a starter for them or even a younger player. From what I heard Faribault was with out Salmonsen and Bergland on and off for the last 3 games...maybe why scoring was different....

I was at BWW tonight and one on the hockey dads told me that Faribault lost in their first round of the 4 on 4. Wow, what happened? I didn't catch who beat them but I thought it was either Northfield or Red Wing.

This 1a thread is where I come for a good laugh every week or 2. I could not look at this more than that, as I could not handle that.

What is this guy thinking? Does he realize this is for development?

They should all get equal time. As for captains practice, which is usually run by someone the coach knows, is a time for the girls to show what they can do before tryouts start! Wake up and smell the roses! Go to the metro if you want to learn to play like a pro!

How about a little quote to end this comedy act--------If you want to play with your friends, it will be after a 4 goal lead!

Faribault lost to Red Wing 7-6 in overtime. Red Wing wins the section now!!! If they beat Faribault in a 4-4 league in the fall it must mean something. Ha Ha

Red Wing looked really good today. They had a nice battle with Northfield and came out on top 8-6. The Lakeville player (Fritz-Ward) looked very good for RW but RW has decent depth and a lot of it was young players.

Blue wanted it more than Mayo did and won the other semi 2-0 with solid goaltending and aggresive forechecking.

Mayo beat Northfield in the 3rd place game 10-4.

I didn't stay for the final game but I predict Red Wing by 2 goals.

Scott & Jeremy -- Thanks for putting this 4x4 together! It will help the girls of SE Minny get ready for the season.

From the website it looks like blue beat Red Wing in the championship. This was a great league that has given the girls a chance to get their skating legs back. I hope it sticks around in future years.

I thought Northfield and Red Wing battled it out pretty well for neither team having it's "real" team there. As for the Nfld/May game, it seemed to get a little rougher than comfortable being so close to season.
