hastings
Hastings very well could go this season without winning a game,
watching them play against hibbing and dominating the first period, then getting flat out hammered the next two periods. There defense is very weak, and tend to make very dumb passes, they have a few good young players, and a good goalie.
But Hastings 0-22

I've been saying it for quite some time. Other than a couple years the last 10 or so. Hastings has had some of the most unskilled players i have watched at the high school level, anywhere. Are those kids learning anything? At some point don't you have to start looking at the coaching or "lack there of"? That guy they got down there has been there since the 60's hasn't he? I'm not sure i would go as far as to say 0-22, but isn't this the same coach/staff that lost like 25 in a row a year or 2 ago? I'm also not so sure this is any kind of "slump" or "turn over" there in. It would seem to me it's boardering on "embarrasing" at this point. Feedback?
Woodbury will still be good. Especially next season since they only have the chance of losing 3 or 4 sophomores from this years varsity to East Ridge - besides the 4 seniors playing varsity this year.spindrift wrote:I can't believe this EastRidge crap. As soon as we get a good system at Woodbury they have to break it up.
Can Woodbury continue to have a good system? I guess we will still have Bolin

Hey Rook Eye
Don't be so hard on Hastings there on pace to win more games this year than they have won in the last 2-3. If they win one out of every four they should get 6 wins. It's not even any fun going down there and playing them. There coach does not stop yelling at the refs, and its the coldest building in the state. Gas must cost a lot more in Hastings than any where else in the state. Do people in Hastings just not care or is the hockey just not a priority anymore. Anyone?
Chuck Foreman's kid? I think you mean Ted Brown's kid, and he graduated last year.ROOK EYE wrote:I see Hastings won last night. How about them Raiders. Not sure how many of Rosemount's good players are left? Is Santy still around? How about Chuck Foreman's kid? Anyone at the game? Just curious how both teams looked?

Re: Hey Rook Eye
Rosemount dominated the first half with hastings goalie keeping them in it.
hastings let up two shorthanded goals i think. But the flat out, out played rosemount in the second half and came out with a W.
You would be surprised about hastings. I think they have had 5 or 6 sophmores play varsity this year. and the jv team which is made of mostly sophmores havent lost a game yet. So you wait a couple years.

So much for your prediction. Hastings has now won 2 in a row.Gopherfanatic11 wrote:Hastings very well could go this season without winning a game,

Sophomore #15 for Hastings looks like a player. He played very well against Park.hockey junkie wrote:Don't be so hard on Hastings there on pace to win more games this year than they have won in the last 2-3. I wouldn't say the talent is down, there isn't one or two really dominant players. Like Borer, Mueller or Eddy, by the way where are the first two? I would say the talent is more spread out and the Conference is closer top to bottom. My reasoning is this, take Alt at CDH, D1 prospect is he dominating the games he's in like Ryan Mcdounah or Chris Hickey did a few years back? Does that mean he's not as good or the other teams are a little more talented the the overall teams of the years they played?
Hahahaha yeah especially since rbk plays for CDH and got ripped apart all night on saturdayjoycer10 wrote:I'd just like to hear what rbk26 has to say now after woodbury kicked the crap out of cdh 4-1. Mid-way through Woodbury has proven they're the best team in the sec and section 3aa.

I think Woodbury is the best team but not by much, I dont think Cretin is far behind even though they lost to Woodbury. After those 2 teams I think the rest are all nearly equal. Any 1 of those 7 other teams could be another team in the SEC on any given night. I think Stillwater will have a very good 2nd half as they seem to be gaining momentum. WBL will have to find their stride otherwise I think they will continue to fall to the middle/lower half of the SEC. My 2nd half sleeper is Mounds View. They have lost a lot of close games this year and might be able to turn those losses into W's in the 2nd half.
A lot will be decided in the 2nd half on goal tending. Stillwater's Pennella has been hot lately with a 1.2 GAA over the last 5 games. He's been keeping the team in the games that the team has been giving up 20-30 shots per game. Woodbury's tandem of Ness/Moore are at 1 GAA for the last 3 while only getting 15-20 shots per game. The question is can Pennella keep that up with that many shots. Woodbury has an advantage by keeping it's opponents shot total down. The wild cards in the mix are: Gleinser of Hastings, Moberg from Forest Lake, and Collette of WBL. All these goalies can turn a game around. While Hastings and Forest Lake might not be contending for the conference lead, they can spoils somebodies chances on a give night. WBL is still in there. CDH's downfall maybe goal tending. Walsh has not consistently been keeping the puck out. Roseville's Podobinski also has been inconsistant. That's why I think Stillwater is the one to challenge Woodbury over CDH with WBL being the dark horse.

This doesn't make sense to me. Woodbury destroyed Stillwater and CDH, both of which were away, and had to score with 18 seconds to play to beat WBL. I don't see Woodbury losing a conference game this year to be honest with you.Sykes wrote:That's why I think Stillwater is the one to challenge Woodbury over CDH with WBL being the dark horse.

If woodbury plays well I don't think there is a team in the confrence that can beat them, but it's pretty hard to play well in every game if u remember they lost to a pretty bad hastings team last year. I think they will lose 1 maybe 2 games in the confrence but that will still bring home a championship. The real question is sections woodbury is considerd the favorite after the cretin game but woodbury proved the last 2 seasons that u can win at sections and be the less talented team. It will be interesting to see how woodbury handles being the favorite after 2 years of playing underdogkomada77 wrote:This doesn't make sense to me. Woodbury won but I wouldn't say they destroyed Stillwater. It was a pretty good game.
