A win (or tie) would give Tartan a shot at 3rd in the conference and, more importantly, great shot at a good 4AA ranking.

I don't want to change the topic of this thread AT ALL but I'm curious if the Hill team is really changed that much. I don't know who any of the players were, but it sounded like their point totals were replaceable and Hill is doing just fine without them; played competitively with AHA, went to OT with BSM and shut out STA away. I know it changes the game play and what not when you lose players, but as far as the quality of the team, they still seem like they can play with anyone.

The only reason you don't notice a huge change is they are in the "soft part" of thier schedule.HShockeywatcher wrote:I don't want to change the topic of this thread AT ALL but I'm curious if the Hill team is really changed that much. The Pioneers are playing more of a grind it out style as they just don't have the big goal scorers. Will be interesting to see if he plays Tyler Zepeda at defense again tonight. I think they will prevail in a low scoring game. Also will Tartan's number one goalie be playing? I understand he left the last game with an injury.

He actually played pretty well at defense.BodyShots wrote:I gotta see that!pioneers wrote:The Pioneers are playing more of a grind it out style as they just don't have the big goal scorers. scoutbanana,
"Let's Play Hockey" previewed all of the conferences around the state in a recent issue (I want to say Dec.).
When describing the Classic Suburban Conference, I believe they stated, "possibly one of the most difficult conferences in the state"
You, obviously disagree

Well Guess I don't ST. Thomas -South ST. PAul- Mahtomedi all in class A-
ST. Thomas & South ST.PAul probably their hardest opponents. Mahtomedi when their on their game.
Under PS2 Ratings
South ST. paul 25
Mahtomedi 29
Tartan 32
The Section is pretty much a walk through the highest rating that comes out of their is WHite Bear Lake at 17 and they have been struggling big time this year. I would say the section this year is real weak - pretty comparable to 1AA and 8AA this year.

what? they lost 2 first line stud players and one more nice forward.. the other guy did not hurt but man this team is ordinary now and were one of the 5 best teams in the state.. HUGE difference.HShockeywatcher wrote:I don't want to change the topic of this thread AT ALL but I'm curious if the Hill team is really changed that much. I would rather have the bottom half of THIER schedule minus the players then the top half. Playing well at the start has helped them so far, now you lose those players in Nov. you are looking at a totally different team they don't have the confidence of beating Edina, WBL and Mahto would have been different. Now you are talking about a team that has a losing record vs winning record with some confidence.
Thats what I mean by "Soft" part of THIER schedule. Didn't say the teams in the second half are all soft even though 75% of them are.

Tartan won 4-2 with an en goal but it was a very good game to watch very physcial and it came down to defense with Zepeda for Hill and the core for Tartan.cody53193 wrote:Pioneers you are right about Tartan's starting goaile being injured. I don't believe that he is playing in tonights game. He injured his groin in the Mathomedi game Monday I believe.
With him being out Tartan has to rely on their back up who is pretty bad....

Not a lot of intensity in this game at all. Hill just doesn't have anybody to finish. They are relying on young role players to step up & score & it just isn't happening. Both teams lack the high end skill player. Give Tartan credit, they made more plays than Hill and squeeked out a win against an average HM club. Lex will continue to try to push the right buttons and see if something clicks but his options seem rather limited at this point. They will have to outwork teams come section time & I just didn't see that type of effort tonight. It appears it may be WB's section to lose this year.
